I Don't Threaten But Tears Do

{Cameron's POV}

It was a bit funny how she slumped forward while trying to insult me, her golden brown hair falling over her face. The struggle to hold back a laugh...

"I kinda feel sorry for her." Linda said while shaking her head, "I believe no one has to get knocked out so many times with such short breaks in between."

"Just make sure she doesn't wake up for a bit longer. A few hours should do the trick." I replied while laying her on the bed.

I stood up and gave a nod towards Jokul, we left Linda to her job and headed down the fort. It was a silent walk and Jokul wasn't exactly the easiest person to get along with.

Suddenly he stopped and faced me, a scowl spread across his face and his eyes flashing a slight red.

"384NX." He said and I looked at him to clarify, "Are you kidding me?! She's a 384NX?!"

"That's what came back in the results. Linda checked it herself." I spoke in the calmest way possible.

Jokul clearly couldn't hold in his anger any longer, he grabbed me by the neck and pinned me to the wall.

"I don't threaten."

"This is not funny." He hissed.

"Its no joke if that's what you're asking."

He seemed to calm down a bit. "So now what?" He asked, letting go of my neck.

Yay, I can breathe again.

"She'll go back to the camp, she still needs training either way we look at it," he grunted , seemingly disagreeing with the idea, "Or do you prefer that Hector discovers her when she's unprepared?"

At this, he seemed to calm down, the red glint leaving his eyes and making them appear more like Shika's.

"I didn't think so." I said, then more comfortingly, "We both want the best, right now, the best would be to keep her from us."

He didn't reply and walked away down the hall.

Damn it must be hard for him... Maybe if she knew...

Eh, who was I kidding? If she knew, then there was no way she'd be as curious as she was. But hopefully the programming I set into her panel would keep her out of trouble.

"Where yah heading in a hurry?"

"Dammit." I mumbled.

I turned around to face a guy exactly my height, with hair as dark as mine and eyes with a little less lightning in them. It was like looking at a reflection of me that I loathed... Deeply.

"Stop looking like me Dan."

"Okay," he said while his body glimmered a bit, "Only if you stop calling me that."

Now he was half an inch taller with midnight-blue hair, a square face and eyes as red as Jadis'. A cocky grin, cockier than mine I dare say, spread all over his face.

"When do I get to meet the new recruit?" His grin grew more than should be possible and he licked his lips.

Damn that weirdo. He's talking about Shikarukia.

"You just missed her." I replied bluntly. I didn't lie, he really wasn't going to see her because she was going to be out for a while. Out cold.

Thankfully he seemed to take the bait and walked away.

As if the last thing I'd do is let him find out about her...
