~Shika~

I opened my eyes, and my first thought was;

Am I the only one who experiences these kinda things?

If so, then I was beginning to think whoever said life wasn't fair, shouldn't have been so literal.

I tried sitting up, but felt sore all over. That, and I was also comfy where I was. Moving my arms and shifting my legs, I realized my scratches and wounds were more ore less gone, which was a relief. When Hector attacked back in the Jeep I thought I was dead for sure.

Well, whatever. At least I'm alive.

I took a deep breath through my nose and was about to let it out in a sigh, when I realized there was something in my mouth. More like something shoved uncomfortably down my throat.

"Oh good, you're awake."

I turned my head slightly, expecting to see Cameron or Jokul, but saw Trent instead. And not the normal, playful looking Trent either.

He walked up to my side, grabbed whatever was sticking out of my mouth and placed a firm hand on my forehead.

"Try not to choke."

"G–?!"

A burning feeling ran through my throat as he ripped out the pipe, making I gagged in reflex. Having it out completely did some things to me and I started a coughing fit, trying to rid my lungs of the contents that almost went down the wrong side.

"The only good thing about piped food is that you don't have to taste how horrible it is." He joked, "Are you done?"

"Couldn't you... have been... gentler about it?" I gripped my throat and looked up at him.

"Gentle is not my style." He returned, "But watching things unfold in any which way is. I didn't expect you to get so angry about it."

"... You put that note there, in the locker... H-How did you even know about the locker?"

"People have done some digging into your parents work. The results have proved very promising, and they're not the only ones who think that."

He circled the bed, my eyes trailing him as he stood and stared in front of a blank wall.

"Who's side are you on–?"

"‘We're all on the same side’ is what your dear Cameron said–"

He said that?

"–That's what he'll have you believe anyway. But if we are all on the same side, why is Hector trying to kill you?"

"I-I..." I didn't know what to do. I'd forgotten how scary it was to talk to this Trent.

He turned around, and I couldn't read the expression on his face, which scared me a little more.

"I returned the key to your brother. I'll let things play out this time around."

"Wait, the key–?!"

"–Shika sweetheart!"

Both our heads turned to see Linda at the door, jacket of her camo suit missing. She ran into the room and gave me a gentle hug while Trent smiled at me, expression turning back to its childish nature.

"Huh?" She pulled away from me and looked at my face, "Where's the pipe?"

"Kinda had an accident and pulled it out. Hehe..." Trent scratched the back of his head.
