Prologue

"Damn it, Leigh. Where are you?"

I heard the noises on her background as I still held my phone in my right hand habang gamit ko yung left hand ko sa pagdadrive.

"I'm in a photoshoot, Dimwit."

Hindi ko alam kung sasabihin ko pa ba yung problema ko o hindi na. But, I need someone to talk to. Sammie isn't even answering her phone.

"I need you."

"Are you crying again, Vanilla? Geez! Where are you?"

"I'm driving ar—"

"Am I in a loudspeak?"

"No, I'm talking to you with my right hand while my left hand is on the steering wheel."

"Oh my God! Just stop the car and don't drive. I'll pick you up."

"You're in a photoshoot right? Just call Sammie to meet me. I'll call Railey."

"Dimwit, just go to Railey's unit okay? I'll be there as soon as I'm done with this."

"Bring me something to eat Leigh, will you?" Naiiyak na naman ako.

The pain is too much. I should have listened with Leigh. She's always right anyways.

She warned me not to get too caught up with Zero. Akala ko talaga ito na yung kapalaran ko. I'm even so excited to meet him. In six months na magkausap kami, palagi syang may rason kapag nagdedemand ako na magkita na kami. O kaya naman kahit mag skype call.

To even think na ipinagtatanggol ko pa naman sya kay Leigh. Ayun pala all this time, tama si Leigh. He is not a he. Kaya pala ayaw nitong makipagkita sakin kasi babae pala ito.

Tapos ang masaklap pa, sa mismong branch pa ng isa sa mga construction firm namin ito nagtatrabaho.

She's just playing me all along.

Inihinto ko sandali yung kotse dahil baka mabangga ako. My tears are already forming at bay.

Leigh should have pulled me before I sink deeper into this mess. Sammie's already busy with her lovelife, kaya dapat ito na yung magsave sakin lagi. Sam will no longer be always available for me.

I remembered the conversation that Leigh and I had just recently on our last volleyball game.

"What makes you think you're already in love? You haven't even met that Zero."

Natawa naman ako sa kaibigan kong si Leigh habang inaayos ko yung sintas ng sapatos ko.

"Why Leigh? Do you fall in love at first sight? Hindi naman din di ba? Saka sabi mo, fall in love with the character. That's why I think I'm falling for this Zero."

"You don't even know him yet, Van."

"Exactly. Kaya nga ako naeexcite e. It seems that we don't know each other yet. But we can already feel the connection as if we've known each other for a long time."

Natahimik naman ito doon. Pagkatapos ay sinimulan na din magpalit ng jersey.

"Just slow down. You might find yourself breaking. Mamaya gamitin ka lang nyan."

Umismid naman ako.

"Gaya ng mga exes mo? Y'know what's wrong with you, Leigh? Pinangungunahan mo lahat. That's why no one can keep up with your standards."

"Hey, I'm just saying thay what if he's a psycho? A stalker? A hooker?"

Tumawa naman ako dito. She's really paranoid.
