Its night time when we get back.  Everyone's families are there to bring them home. So they can sleep in their warm houses, with there full rooms, and completed hearts. I don't see my father anywhere, no surprise there, but I also don't see Happy, or even the guy paid to be my dad for things like this.

I stand there in the cold with no one. Until Pete walks up to me. "We can drive you home." I look up at him and nod. I haven't said a thing since the fall. He starts to walk away but I pull at his hoodie. He turns back and wraps his arm around me. It's the warmest thing I've ever felt. Dad isn't much of a hugger. I feel tears roll down my skin. It's not even just what happened today.  It has been my whole life. Yes, my dad and I have a good relationship now. But it's not loving like a typical household. I feel more like a business partner than his daughter. Pair that with me living alone, I barely even see him.

My sobbing continues and Peter just holds me. I feel horrible for making a scene, but it seems Peter is hiding me well enough. I finally pull away from him. He has a single tear on his cheek. I wipe it away. "Thank you, for everything, you are my Spider-Saviour." He smiles and takes me by the hand to May's car.

We get in it and I give May my address. "Wow, really, that's those rich apartment buildings, I have a friend that lives there. She says it's crazy expensive, even for New York standards." I can't help but snuggle into Peter, he hasn't made any protest, so I assume he's okay with it. His warmth is like no space heater I've ever owned. Sadly, it doesn't take long to get to my home.

I get out and head to the back to get my bags. Pete rushes to get them before I do. I manage to get my small toiletries bag that wouldn't fit in the suitcase. "Peter really you don't have to, you've done so much today." He ignores me and continues to walk toward the main entrance. I turn to close May's trunk, but before I do I dig through Peter's things.  I find what I'm looking for and stick a small tracking device-camera on his suit. "Thank you some much May, I love you." I close the trunk and she waves to me. "I love you too, sweetheart!"

We reach my room, I enter my passcode. We enter and I take my bag from him. "So this is the abode of Miss Stark!" I laugh and put my bags on the living room floor. "It's too big for just me. I get lonely a lot, and there's no real warmth."
"That's why you cried so hard. No one came to pick you up."

"I mean, yes, but the events of today sure didn't help. I guess I just haven't cried in a while. Bottled up emotions and all." Peter comes up to me and embraces me again. "If you keep doing this, I'm going to get the wrong idea." He leans down in my ear. "I'm fine with that." It sounded so sultry yet innocent. I don't think he realizes what he's just implied.

I pull away and touch his chest. "You should go now before May gets suspicious." He nods and turns to leave. However, I can't help but get revenge. I grab his wrist and try to kiss his cheek. miscalculating our height difference, I hit his jaw instead. We both turn beat red. He stutters words but nothing coherent.

Then he leaves and I close the door behind him. I the mange to slide down the door to the floor before I completely collapse. "Mai, save the last ten minutes of Living Room Cam's footage in my protected folder."
"Sure thing, what would you like to save it as."
"Future reference."

The next day of school is an odd one indeed. Everyone is suddenly talking about Spider-Man. Even guys I've heard bashing on him suddenly are his biggest fans. Just followers.

I hear the school news come on. "This past weekend, Midtown's Academic Decathlon team defeated the country's best to win the national championship. Later that day, they also defeated death."

"Thanks for the reminder," I say as kids laugh at my "joke." It continues on showing witness accounts. They wanted me on there too, but I told them I was still too shaken up from it. What would I even say? 'I was too busy panicking that I couldn't even let go of Liz. I could have helped out in some way, but no I became a useless blob.'

"Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, thanks to the Spider-Man." Jason continues.
"Thank you, Spider-Man." Both Betty and Jason say in the most awkward tone.
"Up next: the Spider-Man mania is sweeping the school. How can you show  your spider spirit?"

I continue on cringing from all the swooning girls. Of course, while I'm not looking I smash directly into the school-wide sensation, Spider-Man, currently disguised as a normal teen.

"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. You know me, rather be up in the cloud than here." I chuckle awkwardly.  He laughs and gives me a warm smile. "Thanks, again, for everything. Not just recently, for all the time I've know you. But this " Spider Spirit" junk is making me cringe."

"Yeah, no it was nothing. You know. All part of the job. I would have done it for everyone. Oh, and yeah, the spirit thing is totally weird." We stood there for a while. Staring into each other's eyes. His warm brown eyes. If only my coal colored eyes we're even half as gorgeous as his. Maybe I'd have a chance against Liz. No, he probably doesn't care about shallow stuff like that.

Ned comes in to break up the moment. "Dude, dude, dude, dude. What is it like being famous when nobody knows it's you?"
Peter turns away from me and I look around embarrassed. "Crazy, dude."
"Yeah, the spider spirit is totally weird." I mock him under my breath, he clearly said that just to agree with me. He sighs and ignores me.

Ned starts talking again, "It's crazy. Should we tell everyone?" I scoff. "No, " Pete responds.
"Should I tell everyone?"
"No, dude, no that's not a good idea."
"Too late guys, I've already told everyone." They look at me like I was actually being serious. "Kidding. I'm kidding guys. You really thought I'd do that?"  I raise my hands in mock offense.

"Okay, come on, we'll be late to class." I nod and start walking away, expecting that to be the end of our conversation.
"I'm not going to class." I stop dead in my tracks.
"You're already in so much trouble for ditching the Decathlon."
"Dude, listen, I figured it out, right? The wingsuit guy is stealing from Damage Control. And what he takes Damage Control, that's how he builds the weapons. So all I gotta do is catch him."

"But we have a Spanish quiz."
"Ned, I'm probably never gonna come back here. Mr. Stark is moving the Avengers upstate, so when I bring this guy in-" I turn on my heals and grab him by the backpack straps.

"Pete if you think that just because the Avengers are moving upstate, you are automatically included, then you are delusional. You need to live a somewhat normal life for these last few years of high school before you'll have to risk your life for a planet that will only remember you for a decade tops. I know it, My da- uh, Tony Stark knows it, everyone but you would agree. So get it through your dense skull. You aren't becoming a high school drop out." I let go of him and smooth out his clothing. "I'm sorry, but it pisses me off to see you throw away your life before it's necessary." Ned looks at me, with a mixture of fear and awe.

"But I am so far beyond high school right now." I feel like headbutting him with the force of a thousand suns. But a voice stops me. Principal Morita.

"Parker, my office."
