We all sit at a table eating pizza. It's funny how time flies when you are with people you love. We watched TV, walked around to some stores, went to an arcade, even went to a movie. Now, we are at a local pizzeria.

I look at the time on my phone. It's 8:43 PM. “I really should be heading home. It's late and we have school. I get up and leave money for the bill. Peter stands up too. “I'll walk you home.”

“You know I can protect myself. I'm an orange belt in taekwondo.”
“Yes, that's why I'm coming. To make sure you don't kill someone.” Ned and MJ wave to us as we leave. I'll have to remember to text her tonight; make sure she knows how much I appreciate her.

We walk for about two minutes before Pete wraps his arm around my waist. “Wanna try something new?” He doesn't give me much time to respond before shooting a web to the top of a building.

Suddenly I'm racing through the air, then we land. “Ah! What the hell? Someone could have seen you!”

“I looked around, I was cautious.”
“How about the people looking through their windows?” We both sit on the edge of the building. It's dark, so no one should be able to tell who we are.

“As I said, you are horrible at the whole secret identity thing.” I lean my head on his shoulder. Peter shuffles a little, then holds a box in front of my face. “This is my real present. I couldn't give it to you earlier, you'll understand why once you open it.”

I pull out a porcelain knickknack of a nightingale bird. “I've never really had anything like this before. I love it.” He digs in his pocket again this time pulling out a cheap spider ring. The kind you get in Halloween gift bags. He puts the ring part in the bird's mouth.

“I thought it would be funny. Like an inside joke.”

Later he drops me off on my balcony. “Happy birthday, Morgan.” He leans his forehead on mine. “It was the best one yet.”

He leaves and I head inside. I get scared out of my skin when I see my dad doing something with my systems. “Hello?” He turns and looks at me. “I didn't even hear the front door.”
“Well, that's because I came in through the balcony.”
“I told him not to take you swinging around for fun. Guess it can't be helped. Anyway, I'm here to give you your birthday present.”

He presses a few more buttons and then the room transforms into a mini-laboratory. “I figured you'd need a better set up if you were going to modify the bird suit.” I chuckle at the name.

“This is amazing Dad. It's just like yours, but condensed.”
“Well, that was the plan. I also upgraded Mai a little.” He looks at his watch and his eyes widen. “Damn, didn't realize how late it was. I've gotta go. Love you 3,000.”

He heads to the door but I stop him. “What?”
“Huh? Oh, you used to say that a lot. No clue why. It was quite adorable though. I was looking through some of our old things and I came across a box of old photos and a few video cameras.”

“I don't remember you taking a bunch of photos or videos.”
“That's because I didn't. It was usually Happy or your nannies. Looking through them, I realize just how much I was missing that first decade. I'm sorry about that. I'm going to make it up to you one day.”

With that, he leaves. “One day.” I roll my eyes and head to bed.

A/N: Guess their relationship is still pretty strained, huh?
