Everyone stays quiet for way too long. The defeat sits heavy on everyone's chest.
“So what now?” Quill stands up. “What now!” I jump at the sudden yelling. “There's no need to yell.” Strange states calmly.
“No need? Thanos has one more stone left and you all are just sitting here doing nothing. And you are the one who gave him the Time Stone!” Strange ignores him.
“We just have to hope that the last one is destroyed before Thanos has it,” Dad grunts as he readjusts.
“He has the Time Stone. If that were the case he could just reverse it.” Dr. Strange just had to say that.
“Is this the future you say where we won?” I ask him. He refuses to answer. My head hangs as I try to reason with myself. 'It's going to be okay.' Everything will work out one way or another.
I stand up and urge Peter to follow me. He does and we walk away from the group. “Please, tell me everything is going to be all right.” I bury my face into his chest. The cold metal reminds me that this is all real. There is no waking up from this horrible dream.
“You know I can't promise that.” I pull away and look up. “If you or Dad die, I don't know what I'll do. I don't think I could live in a world without both of you.”
“Hey, hey, hey! Don't say that!” I see the sadness in his eyes. “The good guys are supposed to win! Why did we lose?” My whole body trembles.
He doesn't speak. He knows that just his existence helps me. “Peter, if we don't see each other ever again. I want you to know that I love you so much. You are one of the greatest things to ever happen to me.”
He kisses me, it's almost like a goodbye kiss. But God, I sure hope I'm wrong about that.
I calm down, and we decide to go back to the group.
“You two, come help me up.” I nod and go to help my Dad. I grab one hand and Peter grabs the other. He pulls on us and gets on his feet. We both make sure he is okay on his own. Neither of us strays too far.
I hear thunder and pray that it's a normal storm. Mantis does not confirm this, “Something's happening.”
I look over at her just as she crumples into dust. 'What the hell?' I'm too shocked to say anything out loud. So is everyone else.
Drax looks down at his arm. It's slowly fading and quickly reaches the rest of him. “Quill?”
I hold on to Peter like that's going to stop either of us from disintegrating.
“Steady Quill.” He quickly realizes what's happening. “Oh, man.”
Dr. Strange, in his final moments, assures Dad that this needed to happen. “There was no other way.”
“Morgan?” I shake my head while firmly holding Peter's face. “I don't feel so good.” My voice is stuck, nothing would come out. “I don't know what's happening.”
His strength gives out, and I hold his weight, keeping him from falling. “I don't want to go.” He holds on with such intensity that he would probably bruise me if it weren't for my suit.
“No, Peter, don't do this to me!” He looks into my eyes one more time. “I'm sorry.” I continue to hold onto him, even when the wind has blown all the dust away.
I fall onto my knees, clutching the sides of my arms. I don't have any more strength, so I rest my head on the ground.
I feel two hands pull at my sides. I jump up and start screaming “NO! NO! NO! NO!” I shake and thrash like a toddler having a temper tantrum.
Dad manages to pull me up and hugs me. A weird sensation spreads all over my body. I finally stop screaming, “Daddy?” He pulls back, his eyes widen, and he knows what's about to happen.
I release my final breath, and my vision fades to black.
