Outside my apartment Pete texts me.

Peter-Man
Are we still on for tonight?

Yup!

I then silence my phone and put it into my book bag. Dad hates it when I'm on my phone while we are talking. Funny how hypocritical that is. I get it though, he is an important man.

I walk into my apartment and see Dad looking at my corkboard filled with photos. He turns and says hello to me.

“Now that everyone knows, maybe you should meet my friends. You know, besides Peter.” He takes one photo off of the board. “Mind if I take this one?” It's a picture of Peter and me standing on the balcony of my apartment. It's at an awkward angle since I was trying to fit both of us, and the ground below, in the shot.

That was the first time he came over to stay. “Yeah, I can print out another one.” He puts into his jacket pocket.

“Listen, Morgan. I know I should have asked before doing this, but I wanted it to be a surprise. Of course, that doesn't work when somehow the news got a hold of the info.” I place my backpack down and sit on the couch.

Dad does the same beside me. “You could have just had a small party. With only close friends and family.”
“Yes, but I wanted it to be better than that. After all, that's what I had planned before I realized how dangerous it would be for you to be a public figure.”

“I guess if you had done this since I was young, I probably would have gotten used to having so many eyes on me.” I slump backward on the couch.

“That's probably true.” He isn't as snarky and sarcastic as usual. He must be extremely sorry for this. “I can still cancel the event.” I slowly shake my head. “No, it's fine. It will probably be good for me too.” He awkwardly laughs and I sit back up.

“So, what is this about some super special plus one VIP?” Dad sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. “I think somehow my words were twisted. I said that you'd bring the kid as your plus one. But my exact words were, 'she'll have a plus one. A special VIP plus one.' I was being sarcastic. I guess those girls at school interpreted whatever they read as, you were getting to pick a public plus one.”

I nod. “So, when is this?”
“Next weekend.” He talks a little more about what's planned and how everything is going to work. I have to admit, the more he explains everything, the more I feel overwhelmed.

There's a knock at my door. I get up to answer it but Dad beats me to it. I walk up behind him to see who it is.

Right in front of my dad was my excited boyfriend, his starstruck friend, and my surprisingly awestruck best friend. “Peter! Ned! MJ!” I scold. “You weren't supposed to come till later.”

“Sorry, I asked if we could come early but you never answered.” Peter displays a sheepish smile. I sigh and invite them in.

Peter comes in normally, not being phased by my dad's presence. However, Ned and MJ walk in slowly their eyes are glued to him.

Dad closes the door. “Dad, these are my friends. You know Peter. This is MJ the girl who helped me when I first started school.” She gives him a small wave. “And that's Ned. He's kind of a big fan.”

Dad sticks his hand out to shake theirs, Ned instantly grabs on and shakes furiously with both of his hands. MJ isn't a big handshaker. Dad realized this and puts his other hand back down.

Peter comes up behind Ned and tells him that's enough. Ned let's go, you can still see the childlike gleam in his eyes. “Mr. Stark? Can I have an autograph?” Peter and I both groan but my dad laughs and then obliges.

After he's signed two pieces of paper and Ned's arm. He goes to grab his things, “I'll let you have fun with your friends, Morgan.” We all say our goodbyes and he leaves.

It's suspiciously quiet. That is till I turn around and Ned starts fangirling. “That was Tony Stark! The Tony Stark! Tony Stark as in Iron Man! Iron Man as in one of the coolest Avengers! Tony Stark as in Morgan's Dad, Peter's boss!” I let out a sigh mixed with a laugh. Ned takes a moment to breathe.

I look over to MJ, she's showing her normal unbothered expression. Still, I know deep inside she was kind of excited.

Peter clears his throat and walks over to my table, which currently has two small boxes and an envelope. “Aw, you guys didn't have to do this. You could have just told me what you wanted to give me, I would have bought it instead.”

All three of them look at me annoyed. “She does this all the time,” Peter says as he shakes his head. I whisper a small, “Sorry.”

“Anyways, this is my gift.” MJ hands me a small, white box. I open it and in it is a small padlock. “Unlock it.” I pull it out and use the key to open it. It pops open and reveals a place to put a small picture.

“I thought since you had all those pictures of us you might want a thing to put one in.” I hug and thank her. Then Ned hands me his box.

I open it and find a small arc reactor necklace. I laugh at the gift. “I love it, Ned. Thank you.”

Then Peter hands me an envelope. I carefully open it and pull out a small stack of construction paper rectangles. I read the words out loud. “Boyfriend coupons?” He chuckles and I have the biggest smile on my face.

It was so simple, but that's exactly why I like it so much. It's something that's one of a kind, that he made. “You guys are the best.” I go around and hug them all again, but I make sure to quickly peck Peter while I'm at it.

So far, this has been a pretty great birthday.

A/N: So I completely forgot it was Saturday. I went to bed and then woke up at 11:48 and realized I needed to update. My personal life has been kinda rough lol 😅 but I already talked about that in conversations. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it.
