While at school a few people wish me happy birthday, none of them I remember telling it to. I push my way through the crowds of people. 'Seems like my birthday revived my popularity. How bothersome.'
I finally reach my first class, but several girls are surrounding my seat. “Excuse me. What the hell is going on?” The girls turn and start to squeal. Then it's an onslaught of “Pick me! Me! No me!” I can barely cope with all the voices and the fact that they are all so incredibly close to my personal bubble. “What are you all talking about?” I try to yell over them.
They all silence as one girl, closer to me than everyone else, starts to speak. “For your special VIP plus one at your sweet sixteen party!” All I can think is 'Dad has come up with another excuse to have a party.'
Thankfully, the teacher enters the classroom and forces everyone to leave. I take my seat and instantly lay my head on the desk. I calm down for a second before secretly texting my dad.
Care to explain why the hell girls at my school are freaking out because of some sweet sixteen party that I'm supposed to be having?
Iron Dad
No clue. Why do I highly doubt that?
Iron Dad
We'll talk about it after school.I have a strong urge to throw my phone out of a window. It's so typical of him. Any chance to be in the public eye.
In the hall, I pull Peter to the side. “My dad is an asshat.” He looks at me strangely, pushing me to continue. “Now that I'm out in public, I think he wants to have some elaborate birthday party. A horde of girls was in my class this morning begging for me to pick them as a VIP plus one or something.”
Just as I say that a senior I've never talked to waves to me and says, “Looking good Morgan! Real hot!” Peter turns around and glares but the senior laughs and rolls his eyes.
“That was just gross. Anyway, Tony is going to make me hate my birthday.”
“I don't understand. Why does the whole school know before you do?” I shake my head. “Maybe it was supposed to be a surprise. I'm not sure, he said we'd talk after school.”The bell rings and we have to go. Peter takes a few steps away before turning around and kissing me. “What was that for?” I giggle. “That guy was still staring at you.”
“Never took you for the possessive type Peter.” He rolls his eyes and walks away.
After school, I find a familiar car with a very familiar man driving it. I hop in and look out the window. I don't normally start the conversation between me and Happy. Mainly because his personality has always been kind of intimidating to me.
“He just wants to make up for lost time.” I'm slightly startled by his voice.
“What do you mean?”
“He told me the month you were born he was going to try to make your life like a fairy tale. Don't worry, I told him how cheesy it was.”
“Well, if he was going for Rapunzel, then he succeeded.” I laugh and Happy knows I wasn't completely serious.“He said he wanted your birthdays to be large and extravagant.”
“I don't think I would have wanted that anyway.”
“Heh, I know, but he didn't know you were going to take so much after him. By that I mean, you would rather be tinkering than be girly. We sure never expected you to steal parts to build your inventions.” Happy honks and yells for a bit before going back to our conversation.“Just realize that this party isn't supposed to be a showy thing. He just wanted to give you a birthday party that he felt you needed to have. I'm pretty sure the only reason it didn't stay a secret is because a guest may have said something on the internet.”
The serious talk is over, and he asks me about my day. I tell him that it was okay for the most part. He parks outside my building and I open the door. Happy stops me, however.
“Hey, Morgan? Can I ask why you ever stopped calling me your uncle?” I look back and respond “I thought you didn't like it.” He laughs and assures me that it is quite the opposite. I smile at him, “Thanks for always being there for me and Dad. I know we can both be a pain in the neck.”
“Hey, it's my job.”
“And you are wonderful at it.”
“I sure do try.”
“Best in the business.”
“Hurry up and get up there. The longer you're out here the more I have to wait to take Tony back.”
“Then, I'll be off. See ya!”A/N: At the end of Endgame, I loved that Happy was there with Morgan. So of course had to give them a good uncle/niece relationship.
