"Happy brought a change of clothes for us." Peter places the outfit on my lap. I don't bother looking away from the window.
I've already put up my suit. My current clothing is soaked in sweat from wearing it for hours. "Tell him I said thanks." Once he's gone, I get up to change in the bathroom.
I catch a quick glance in the mirror. I'm caked in dirt and grime. Before changing, I wash my face in warm water. The rinse reveals minor cuts and gashes covering my face.
I need to disinfect these wounds. A quick trip out of the restroom leads me to a first-aid kit.
I take it with me and open it. After grabbing the hydrogen peroxide, I place a cotton pad on the opening and turn over the bottle. "I still remember when I wanted to be a nurse. That dream didn't last long."
"Here I go." I've always had to work myself up to using hydrogen peroxide. I begin wiping the pad on every cut. "It's crazy to think that these are five years old." I talk out loud, it helps distract me from the stinging.
I go over the last one and throw away the pad. Thankfully none of them seem too bad, but I do put a bandage on a couple. Now to put on fresh clothes. A shower would be nice.
I finish and exit the bathroom. Peter is sitting across from my seat. I sit down and smile. It's not entirely genuine, yet not fake. "Have you contacted May yet?" I interrupt the silence.
"Yeah, she got dusted. Thankfully." It sounds harsh, but I sincerely hope everyone I was close to got dusted. I'd hate to find out MJ is five years older than me now.
"Will Happy be joining us soon? I've got so many questions." Pete nods in understanding. "Yeah, he said he wanted to give you some space." My stomach growls.
"I need to eat, but I'm just not feeling it." We both chuckle but I quickly begin sobbing again. "Goddammit! Why is this so hard!" The cool and calm Morgan just won't show up. She has such an impenetrable mask. My mask, however, has cracks and flaws already.
"It's going to be hard Morgan, you can't just grieve for a few minutes then expect to be completely fine." He says this, even though he sure seems unfazed.
"After Uncle Ben died I kept it all pushed back while I was around you and Ned. Inside I was a mess, day-in and day-out." I almost forgot the whole thing with his uncle.
We weren't all that close yet, so I never even met the man. "I just thought that since he died to save everyone, I was going to accept it a little better. But I keep having to remind myself that I'm never going to hear his voice again, or see his face, or feel his presence. At least not the real thing."
Happy walks in and sits with us. "Morgan, I need to talk to you about the last five years. It's up to you if Peter stays or not." I tell him it's okay.
"Is this about Pep and Howie?" Happy looks shocked. "Dad told me to take care of them. It was his final words."
I clearly guessed right. Happy hands me a framed picture. Taking it, I look down at it. There stands my father, he's happy. That's not all, a woman stands next to him, holding and toddler.
"He had another kid?" Happy nods. "The woman is Virginia Potts." No, why couldn't he have said any name other than that one? "She came back after I was dead." A small tear splashes onto the glass of the frame.
"I can't answer most of the questions you have. You'll have to talk to her yourself." He takes back the picture, but I don't look up from where it was.
"Now, I have to tell you the worse news." That wasn't it? What else could be worse than this? "Natasha Romanoff survived the initial snap, but while retrieving the stones to bring everyone back, she sacrificed her life."
I just had to ask. "I think I may throw up." I stand up and run to the back of the plane. With a few gags, I dispel everything in my stomach.
I stumble backward and fall on my rear end. "Are you alright?" Happy speaks from behind the door. I hardly have the courage to respond.
"Who else is gone?" My voice is shaky.
"There were a few other casualties.""I-I'll be fine, soon." I stammer. I assume he left since he doesn't say anything else.
