scared
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
taehyun squirms underneath his duvet. the stomach ache is eating him alive. wiping his tears off his face as he yells for his mum. the stomach ache is gurgling in his ears as he continues to cry.
his mum runs to his room, bucket in hand and a box of painkillers. she sits down next to him handing him his waterbottle and a pill. taehyun sits up in his bed, choking on the water and pill as he swallows. for a few minutes it threatens to come back up again, but that's easily ignored.
his mum envelops him in a hug as he continues to weep. the stomach ache is still there and he feels as if he's going to explode, into tears or vomit everywhere. right now he's unsure. but after a few minutes he only thinks he is going to burts out in tears, again.
it's half past six on a monday morning. taehyun dreads mondays, especially this monday. it's because he has just transferred to a new school. smaller than the old one, but not small enough. he hates it, he hates everything about it.
first of all, there are too many students, secondly, he knows no one. absolutely no one. it's a small, semi-private school for 'privileged students'. but taehyun wasn't privileged at all, he's just scared of people. nothing more, nothing less. this is the best option around.
"please, i don't want to go!" he cries, wiping his snotty tears on his bedsheets as he begs his mum to let him stay home.
"you have to, hyun, i'm sorry. but i can't let you stay home today." his mum says calmly, stroking his back as he continued to dry his eyes, "you can't skip school until the year is over."
"but i don't want to."
"i know, i know. but you don't have to see anyone in the halls. you can just stay in your classroom. i've already talked to the teacher." she says, patting the duvet before standing up and opening his closet.
pulling out the brand new uniform. taehyun doesn't really like it, the sweater vest is pretty snazzy, but he doesn't want to admit it. his mum dances around with it, waving it in front of him.
"isn't it so cool? it'll make you look all rich and fancy!" his mum laughs and he can't help but chuckle. taehyun brushes his hair out of his face, hugging his duvet to his chest. he feels cold and small. maybe the vest is warm?
"i guess it's nice. but i don't want to go." he says with a pout.
"i know, but you have to face your fears. plus you teacher is meeting you outside to walk you around. you'll be safe with her." taehyun is doubting his mother's words, but decides to not pick a fight, they have already been through enough.
taehyun pulls on his sweater vest and ruffles his hair in the mirror. he still feels very sick, but it's bearable. he looks sleep-deprived and as if he has been smoking a ton of weed. but in reality he has just had a sleepless night and cried twice in an hour.
"are you ready to leave, raindrop?" taehyun's mum yells from downstairs. he answers with a loud yes, pulling on his penguin socks. and rushes down to leave for school. he doesn't want to go, but he know he has to.
the car ride is quiet, starlight by 92914 plays from the radio. taehyun's mum really likes the feel of their songs.
"it's like being outside, even when you're inside." but taehyun doesn't really understand what she means, he still thinks the songs are nice.
he's chewing on his short nails as they stop by a red light. his mum turns up the volume and sings along with a quiet voice. room for milk begins playing and taehyun hums along to the familiar tune.
"don't bite your nails." his mum says, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel. taehyun balls up his fists and places them on his lap. he kicks at his backpack for a short while. and his mum huffs as the light turned green and they continued to school.
they arrive after another few minutes. taehyun's mum parks the car and looked over at him. he wears a terrified expression and is tugging at the sleeves of his shirt.
"you'll do great today!" she smiles, "i'll keep my phone on at all times in case you need me."
taehyun nods, opening the car door and stepping out. he bites his tongue so hard it begins bleeding. his stomach churns and he looked at his mum again.
"promise you'll be outside when i'm finished." he whimpers towards her.
"of course raindrop. i'll be here early just in case." she smiles, he hesitantly closes the car door, waving his mum off before turning around.
he searches for the teacher in the nearly empty school yard. as he sees her, she gives him a big wave. taehyun bowed and carefully made his way over to her. he desperately hopes she's nice.
"kang taehyun? it's nice to finally meet you." she smiles as he takes her hand to introduce himself.
"i'm kang seulgi, your class teacher." she still wears her pretty smile as she lets go of his hand. "your mum, hyejin has told me a lot about you. i hope you feel welcome here."
seulgi is wearing a turtleneck and a nice, pale green coat. taehyun likes it very much, but he isn't brave enough to tell her, even though he really wants to.
"do you want to start the tour?" she asks, taehyun nods and they begin walking around. the school is fairly small, but not small enough. there's a nice library, large outside areas for students to run around and benches to enjoy your lunch at.
the cafeteria is medium sized, but holds a lot of chairs. everything is well cleaned and taehyun thinks he might actually like it here for a split. but then the students begin piling up the hallways. and he becomes worried again.
"taehyun? are you there?" seulgi laughs slightly. he snaps out of it and looked at her.
"let's get to class." tahyun nods, he's so scared.
