too far apart

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

the front door thuds as taehyun closes it. he leans his head on the wood, heaving out a heavy sigh. his heart hurts and he feels numb. 

he carefully pokes his head through the curtains to check if beomgyu has left yet. he hasn't.

beomgyu is still by the gate, with an expression of sorrow painted on his face. he wipes his eyes with his sleeve, looking up the path one last time, maybe to catch a glimpse of taehyun again? before he leaves.

taehyun feels a pang in his chest. he'll miss beomgyu for sure. he doesn't know how long he has been staring out the window for, but the growing feeling of longing is soon unbearable.

"if beomgyu hasn't left, i won't do anything. but if he has left for sure, we'll end it." taehyun whispers, referring to himself in third person.

he opens the front door and runs down the path. almost falling onto the pavement as he pushes through the gate.

he turns his head, looking down the street, trying to spot the other. he sees beomgyu far down the road, he's running.

"beomgyu!" taehyun screams as loud as he can. beomgyu's figure is tiny, taehyun still tries to catch the others attention. but beomgyu doesn't turn around, he can't hear taehyun. 

"beomgyu!" he tries i again, feeling sick as his eyes sting with tears. taehyun chokes on his words as he wails on the sidewalk. 

"if you don't turn around i'll k-" but taehyun can't finish his sentence, because a loud car horn interrupts him. he should've gone outside earlier, he should've yelled louder. 

because beomgyu can't hear him at all. they're just too far apart.

taehyun sighs, getting up from his position on the bathroom floor. weirdly enough, he doesn't feel very sad anymore. all he feels is nothing. 

taehyun turns on the faucet in the bath tub. letting the water fill up to the porcelained brim. he puts his hand under the faucet, it's ice cold. and he smiles. he smiles a big, painful smile as he takes off his socks.
