beomgyu-hyung.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

beomgyu runs as fast as his feet can carry him along the pavement. his knee is in it's usual brace and it's restricting his movement. he sort of jumps up and down as he makes his way down the street, as if he's some kind of disabled kangaroo.

he huffs and puffs, but can't help but smile as the familiar house comes into view. his knees ache as he stops to open the wooden gate and he lets out a pained whine. beomgyu nervously makes his way up the garden path, inspecting the house.

the lights are on, someone's home. he nervously cracks his knuckles, before knocking on the door, waiting for someone to answer with a smile on his face. he can hear foot steps inside the house and his heart tries to beat out of his chest.

"beomgyu?" hyejin asks as she opens the door.

"hi hyejin." beomgyu says, tapping his finger nervously on his thigh.

he clenches his teeth, he thought taehyun was going to answer the door.

"i'm sorry, but taehyun isn't home right now."

"he isn't?" he asks and his heart falls to the pit of his stomach. did he run all this way for nothing?

"no, he's at therapy right now. he'll be back in an hour or so."

"you should come back later if you have something to say to him." beomgyu's heart clenches, hyejin is acting surprisingly cold towards him. he doesn't like it. he hates it.

"hyejin?" he asks as she's about to close the front door in his face.

"yes? was there something else you wanted to say?" she asks, pushing the door open yet again.

"yeah, i need to tell you something important."

beomgyu fiddles with the hem of his sweater as hyejin prepares tea for him in the kitchen. he can hear her hum a melody under her breath. as he looks around the house, he realises some of the furniture is new and that pictures have been replaced.

"i like what you've done to your house." beomgyu says, nervously jumping on his leg as hyejin returns to the living room. she's carrying a tray with two cups and a steaming teapot on it.

"you haven't been here for a while." hyejin says, "my girlfriend moved in almost two weeks ago. and she sucks at getting rid of things."

beomgyu laughs. he likes hyejin, it's comforting that she's queer too. at least someone is like him. maybe taehyun is too?

"is your knee alright?" she asks, putting the tray on the coffee table.

"i hurt it trying to escape through my window yesterday."

"escape?" hyejin asks with a quiet laugh as she sits down.

"yeah, i'm grounded for no reason at all and i really wanted ice cream. i escaped today too, to see you and taehyun."

"i can guess why you're here to see taehyun. but why are you here to see me?" she asks with a curious expression. beomgyu thinks about what to say to her for a while, watching her as she pours him a cup of tea.

"i'm so sorry for all the trouble that i've caused." beomgyu blurts out as she hands him his cup of tea.

"i've been acting like a coward lately. and i ended up hurting taehyun when i was trying to protect him."

"you should be telling taehyun this, not me." hyejin says, sipping her tea.

beomgyu looks down into his cup, but he doesn't drink anything. his eyes start to sting as he thinks about what he's planning on telling her.

"but i want you to hear what i have to say first." beomgyu whispers and hyejin's heart hurts as the boy bites back his tears.

"why's that, blossom?"

"i want you to hear my side of the story too and not assume the worst." beomgyu continues to whisper as if what he has to say is fobidden.

"i promise i'll listen. but why me?"

"because i need an adult by my side." he sniffles, "i need a grown-up to tell me that i'll be alright."

"what about your parents? aren't they there for you?"

"no, all my dad cares about is my stepmum and all she cares about is herself and what others think of us."

"she only cares about what others think of you?"

"i can't be myself as long as i live with them. my step-mum raised me to hate myself."

"because she's worried about what others might think?" hyejin asks, putting her teacup back down onto the coffee table.

"excactly," beomgyu says, grimacing as he tries to stop crying. he feels weirdly safe being vulnerable in front of hyejin. this has never happened before.

"so who are you, choi beomgyu?" hyejin asks, "you're allowed to be yourself here."

"i'm queer and in love with taehyun." beomgyu sobs, sniffling his snot clogged nose. he clenches his fists as hyejin moves closer to him.

"don't cry, beomgyu." she whispers, wiping his cheeks with her fingers. her hands are warm against beomgyu's cold face.

he has missed physical touches so much these past weeks, taehyun was usually glued to his side. beomgyu misses taehyun, thinking about taehyun makes him cry even harder.

"i'm by your side, blossom. you can be yourself here, i promise."

hyejin wraps her arms around beomgyu and he lets all his tears fall. there is no point of holding back anymore. beomgyu has told her everything know, she knows who he is, there is no point of hiding anymore.

hyejin releases him from her grasp and hands him a love heart from the bowl on the tea tray. he takes it with a happy heart. and reads the tiny message, it makes him smile. i love you.

"hyung?"

beomgyu turns his head at the speed of light and locks eyes with taehyun, who's standing in the door way. the older smiles with teary eyes, but taehyun wears a blank expression. beomgyu's heart stops, does he not want him here?

but when he realises this isn't a dream, a single tear drop rolls down his cheek like in the movies and he breaks out into a smile.

"beomgyu-hyung!"
