we'll fix you.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

beomgyu wakes up feeling cold. he moves around under the duvet, thinking he'll eventually find taehyun's warmth by his side, but he doesn't. opening his eyes to a pitch black bedroom makes his heart pound painfully in his chest. was yesterday just a dream?

he runs his hand up and down the mattress, hoping to touch taehyun's hand, or stomach, or arm, but all his fingers meet is the bed linen. the empty space immediately frightens him. had he just imagined everything? was this not taehyun's bedroom? was he back in his shoebox?

beomgyu can barely make out the shapes of the furniture in the room and doesn't recognise any of it. his blood runs cold at the thought of being back in his old home. he hears shuffling and whisper-yells from the hallway. "we have to hurry, he might wake up!"

he can't recognise the voices, nor the rummaging sounds. and assumes he's back in dahyun's bedroom, he's still living a nightmare. but what are they doing? beomgyu feels his eyes sting painfully. are they leaving? his breathing quickens as his thoughts start to run wild. beomgyu stretches an arm towards where he imagines a nightstand possibly sitting and manages to turn on a light.

"come on! what if he wakes up?!" he recognises taehyun's voice and it sends daggers into his chest.

he looks around and finds himself in taehyun's bedroom and feels a little relieved as he locks eyes with the large kyungsoo poster on the wall. the curtains are drawn, which explains the dark room. and as he realized in horror a minute ago, the bed is in fact empty. the door to the bedroom is also shut, so taehyun must've wanted him to stay asleep.

beomgyu visualizes them packing their things as clear as day in his head. taehyun puts on his shoes as he whispers at his mums to hurry up. it sends shivers down beomgyu's spine. did they not want him here after all?

he slowly starts hyperventilating as he continues to imagine everything happening outside in the hallway. the tears stream down his face as he hears the sound of zippers being zipped up and loud shoes stomping across the floor.

"oh my god! be quiet, he'll wake up!" yongsun whispers loudly and the stomps quiet down. this was a mistake. he should've never come here. they don't want you here.

beomgyu debates whether or not to get out of bed and confront them outside as he continues to listen to the rummaging. heavy bags are dragged along the floor and hyejin huffs loudly, obviously feeling exhausted from packing their things. beomgyu's world is spinning.

"the car is here!" taehyun says, and beomgyu hears the front door unlock. "i'll go out and pay them, alright? i'll be back in a second to help you lift that, mum."

beomgyu feels the urge to scream grow stronger by the second and sits up in bed completely. his vision is blurry and he breathes as if he's just finished a marathon. they're going to leave.

beomgyu hurries out of bed and towards the bedroom door. he barges out into the hallway screaming at the top of his lungs "please don't leave me!"

hyejin yells out in surprise and yongsun jumps back a metre or two in shock. taehyun stands wide-eyed by the front door, holding what looks like a cake box. beomgyu can't tell what's happening, his vision is blurry, no one is packing anything. what are they doing?

there's a small ladder by hyejin's feet and a banner hangs across the living room archway. beomgyu falls to his knees, sobbing loudly as the three try to grasp the situation. the boy feels vulnerable, not being able to see their faces makes him worry. what if they're angry?

taehyun doesn't spare a second and hurries towards beomgyu, handing the box in his hands to his parents. he wraps his arms around the crying boy, even though he doesn't understand why beomgyu reacted like this.

"i thought you were packing your things." beomgyu whispers in taehyun's ear, "i thought you were leaving."

the words plunge into taehyun's heart as if they're a sword. now he understands. taehyun feels the bile rise in his throat. beomgyu's parents giving up on him and abandoning him so easily has  traumatized the boy.

"no, no, we weren't packing our things. we just wanted to surprise you." taehyun says feeling beomgyu's hands around his back. the older's knuckles turn white as he fists the material of taehyun's shirt in his hands.

"we just wanted to surprise you." taehyun whispers, running his hand through beomgyu's hair. taehyun tightens his hold on the other and puts their cheeks together, to show beomgyu that he's there. beomgyu is so cold against his skin.

"you're so warm." beomgyu whispers, fisting taehyun's hair to pull him as close as possible.

"you're so cold." taehyun whispers in return.

"i'm okay."

"beomgyu," hyejin says as she crouches down to match their height, "you're clearly not okay, blossom."

"no, i swear, i'm okay now." he whispers, pulling away from the hug to look her in the eyes. but the worried look in her makes him crumble. he isn't okay.

"i'm okay," beomgyu attempts to lie again, but he doesn't even believe it himself.

"we'll try to fix it." yongsun smiles lovingly at him, putting her hand on beomgyu's shoulder.

"fix what?" beomgyu asks, watching as all three huddle closer to him.

"fix whatever is broken in your heart." hyejin says, "whatever your family broke, we'll fix it."

"we'll fix it, gyu. i promise that we'll fix it."

"and we can even take you to a therapist if we can't fix it by ourselves." hyejin says, running her hand through his hair as taehyun wipes his teary cheeks.

"we'll fix you."

beomgyu believes every word they say, he trusts them completely now. he would've never imagined feeling this safe around women ever in his entire life after being abandoned by his mother. and he never thought he'd ever love someone as much as he loves taehyun.

"please, don't ever leave me." beomgyu knows he has abandonment issues, but he believes taehyun and his family can fix him.

"we'll fix you, i promise."

beomgyu looks around the hallway and into the living room. there are balloons tied to the coffee table, a brand new pair of running shoes sit on the sofa and there's a warm smell of waffles coming from the kitchen. the cake box that was just delivered is sitting by itself on the floor where yongsun left it.

beomgyu looks up at the archway, finally being able to read the banner past his tears. and smiles as he realized the noises from earlier were them struggling to put it up. a warmth he has never felt before fills him up and he feels safe as he reads the words painted onto the fabric sheet. he knows they'll fix him.

'welcome home, blossom.'
