The next Sunday, Edmund waited patiently outside the school for Peter, having both agreed to meet at 5pm to go for a walk.
It was probably around five to now so Edmund sat down on the grass, leaning back against the wall as he waited.
After perhaps ten minutes he frowned to himself, it wasn't like Peter to be late at all.
Thinking that maybe he'd been caught up with something, Edmund waited perhaps a little impatiently for another ten minutes, sighing to himself when Peter didn't turn up.
When half past came and Peter still didn't appear Edmund stood and walked back towards the school, head down and hands in his pockets, hoping that he'd maybe find Peter.
But instead he found the one person he was trying to avoid.
"Feeling a bit down in the dumps are we?" James said, a mocking tone to his voice.
Edmund sighed. "Leave me alone James." He muttered, attempting to side step around him.
But James easily blocked him from going anywhere. "You can't tell me what to do." He spat.
"No." Edmund said coolly. "But my brother can."
James smirked. "And where is your brother?" He asked. "I don't see him."
Edmund swallowed hard. He was right, Peter wasn't here. "He'll be here." He said as firmly as he could, but he knew he didn't sound at all sure.
"Course he will." James laughed sarcastically, his 'gang' walking up and stopping behind him.
Edmund took a deep breath, knowing what was coming. He once again tried to dodge around them, but it was no use.
Sighing he looked down the corridor, hoping that he'd spot Peter, but he had no such luck, and he could only brace himself as James walked over.☆☆☆
Half an hour later Edmund stormed through the corridors on his way to Peter's dorm, hand held over his split lip so the blood didn't stain his clothes.
To say he was mad would be an understatement, and he was upset as well, maybe even more than he was mad.
Peter hadn't been there when he needed him most, which was very unlike Peter, which is what made Edmund so upset.
Taking a deep breath he pushed open the door, and sure enough found Peter.
His eyes went wide at the sight of him and his friends sat together on two of the beds laughing and joking with each other.
Edmund stood there in the doorway for a whole minute, staring at them all, Peter specifically. None of them had noticed he was there, and he was about to turn around and leave when he saw Peter glance at the small clock on one of the bedside tables.
Edmund watched in an almost amused way as Peter's eyes went wider than he'd ever seen them go before.
"I need to go." He said quickly, standing from the bed and making his way towards the door, only to stop dead when he saw Edmund.
Edmund stared at Peter, making a point to lower his hand so Peter could clearly see his split lip.
Peter's eyes were immediately filled with guilt. "Ed." He choked.
Edmund glared at him. "Thanks for showing up." He spat sarcastically, before turning around and heading back down the corridor.
He hadn't got very far when he heard his brother calling his name, and heard footsteps running after him.
He stopped when he felt a hand land on his shoulder, and swung around to face his brother. "What?" He spat.
"Ed I'm so sorry." Peter said. "I lost track of time."
"I understand." Edmund muttered sarcastically. "You were busy."
"Ed." Peter sighed.
"No I get it." Edmund said, almost laughing. "You have friends and I don't, why would you want to go on a walk with me when you can stay here and have fun with them?"
"Ed that's not true." Peter said firmly. "I didn't realise what time it was."
Edmund stared at him, still not looking convinced.
"Did - Did James do that?" Peter asked after a moment, nodding at Edmund's lip.
Edmund slowly nodded before glaring at him. "But maybe it wouldn't of happened if you'd just been there." He muttered.
"Ed I said I was sorry." Peter sighed.
"Whatever." Edmund replied before turning back around and walking away.
"Ed!" Peter called after him.
"Leave me alone Peter!" Edmund called back. "I want to be alone."
When he was satisfied that Peter wasn't following him he headed back outside, sitting back down in the grass and staring ahead of him, wiping the blood from his lip.
It was then that he spotted a group of boys, stood leaning against the fence not that far away.
Edmund recognised them to be a year older than him, most people calling them bullies.
Whilst they weren't anywhere near as bad as James and his friends, they were still bad enough, so when they turned to face him Edmund quickly looked away.
He sighed when he heard them walking over, and slowly stood, intending on leaving, but he stopped when one of them called his name, well, his last name.
Frowning at how they'd know his name, he stopped until they reached him, looking rather confused.
"Pevensie, isn't it?" One of them said.
Edmund slowly nodded. "Yes." He said, still frowning.
"James told us about you." The boy said.
Edmund rolled his eyes. Of course he did.
"Said that you had quite a temper." The boy laughed.
"Yeah well." Edmund shot back. "When he beats you up you tend to want to fight back and lash out at him."
The group of boys laughed at this, the main one making an impressed face.
There was a short while of silence between them all, before the boy that had been speaking looked back at Edmund.
"My name's Jack." He said, before holding his hand up.
Edmund stared at it for a while, before taking a deep breath and shaking it. "Edmund."☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡
