Edmund took a deep breath as he headed down the corridors, Peter's birthday present held tightly in his hands.
He reached the hall after ten minutes, actually managing to dodge around James and his gang without being noticed and stepped inside, scanning the room for his brother.
He soon found him, sat at a table with his friends, laughing at something one of them had said.
Edmund sighed a little and made his way through the hall, hiding the book behind his back - seeming as it wasn't wrapped.
He stopped behind Peter and tapped his shoulder gently, causing him to turn around.
"Hey Ed." He said when he saw who it was, smiling a little.
"Happy Birthday." Edmund said, smiling back.
Peter chuckled. "Thanks." He said.
"I've got your present." Edmund said. "But it's not wrapped."
Peter smiled before standing, telling his friends he'd be back in a minute before following Edmund to the corner of the room.
Edmund hesitated slightly before handing Peter the book, hoping that he'd like it.
Peter took it and glanced down at the title, his eyes widening slightly when he did. "You found it?" He asked, looking up.
Edmund shrugged. "I know you've wanted to read it for a while now." He said slowly.
Peter looked up at him, a smile making it's way onto his face. "Thank you." He breathed.
Edmund shrugged but said nothing, a small smile on his face.
"I take it it would be too embarrassing for me to hug you?" Peter chuckled.
Edmund glared playfully at him. "You think?" He said.
Peter laughed again. "You'll get one at some point today." He said. "Don't worry."
"I wasn't." Edmund muttered under his breath, but he knew Peter heard him.
"Right." Peter said. "We should probably hurry and have breakfast."
Edmund nodded. "What are you doing later?" He asked. "After lessons."
Peter smiled. "Me and my friends are going for a kick about in the park." He replied. "And you're coming too."
Edmund couldn't help the grin that made it's way onto his face.
"See you then?" Peter asked, grinning back.
Edmund nodded enthusiastically. "Definitely."

Edmund sighed as he sat outside during lunch, picking at bits of grass.
He jumped when he felt arms come around his shoulders, and turning his head saw Peter, grinning at him. "What?" He asked, trying to wiggle free of Peter's hug.
Peter chuckled. "I told you you'd be getting a hug at some point today." He said.
Edmund rolled his eyes. "I hoped you'd forget." He teased.
Peter laughed. "When have I ever done that?" He said.
Edmund nodded. "I suppose." He said, grinning himself now.
Peter eventually let go of him and sat beside him, the smile still on his face. "Meet me outside my dorm at 3:30 alright?" He said.
Edmund nodded. "I'll be there." He said.
Peter opened his mouth to say something else but was cut off when he saw James walking towards them.
Hearing Edmund take a deep breath Peter stood, James stopping no more than 1 foot away from him. "Keep walking James." Peter spat.
"Why should I listen to you?" James sneered.
Peter raised an eyebrow. "Because I'm older than you and also now happen to be head boy." He said, a hint of amusement in his voice that only Edmund noticed.
James stared at him, looking rather shocked before turning back around and walking away.
"You never told me you were head boy!" Edmund exclaimed as Peter sat back down beside him.
Peter smiled. "It only happened this morning." He said with a playful roll of his eyes.
Edmund chuckled. "Well done." He said.
Peter smiled. "I should probably go." He said. "See you later?"
Edmund nodded. "See you later."

"You know Pete." Edmund said as his brother helped him hobble through the school that evening. "I don't think you had to kick the ball that hard."
"It was entirely my fault!" Peter protested. "I didn't see you! The ball hit your ankle and it sort of, gave way beneath you."
Edmund shook his head in amusement. "It's alright Peter." He said. "But seriously next time, check if I'm there or not!"
Peter chuckled. "I will." He said. "Hey, how about we go for another walk on Sunday?" He suggested. "We could make it a weekly thing?"
Edmund thought for a moment. "I'd like that." He said with a nod and a smile.
"Good." Peter chuckled.
"Hey, did you get anything from Mum, Susan and Lucy?" Edmund asked.
Peter nodded. "I got letters." He said. "They all said it was extremely expensive to send gifts through the post so I'd have to wait till I got home. But I'm fine with that, atleast I got your present, which I love by the way."
Edmund smiled slightly. "I'm glad you do." He said as the two reached Edmund's dorm.
"You'll be alright?" Peter asked.
Edmund nodded and hesitantly placed his foot on the floor. He flinched slightly when pain shot through his ankle, but it soon dulled to a faint ache that he could perhaps ignore. "Yeah, I can walk on it now." He said.
"That's good." Peter replied. "Alright, see you tomorrow?"
Edmund nodded. "Only one more day until the weekend." He said wistfully.
Peter chuckled. "You really like overreacting don't you." He said.
Edmund smirked at him. "It's my talent." He laughed.
Peter rolled his eyes playfully. "Of course it is." He said, smiling.
Edmund sighed happily. "Alright then, see you in the morning." He said, opening his dorm door.
Peter nodded. "Sleep well." He said.
Edmund groaned. "I will after this evening." He muttered.
"Wore you out did we?" Peter teased.
Edmund rolled his eyes, entering his dorm. "Goodnight Peter!" He called over his shoulder.
Peter chuckled. "Night." He called back, watching as Edmund closed the door.
With a warm sigh he headed off back down the corridor to his own dorm, having rather enjoyed the day.
