After years of spending times with a lot of people in and out of the Hospital, Sakura knew when a person is lying or not. She knew this man was not lying, not in the slightest. Perhaps she was the one who refused to accept the fact that he is telling the truth. Sometimes it becomes a person's defence mechanism, to reject a statement they know is true but they can't accept as fact.
For twenty four hours Sakura let a member of a Yakuza in her abode like he's some kind of a special guest or something.
She heard about those organizations when they moved here in Tokyo. Her parents always warned her about those certain groups that are worse than gangs. Frankly enough, those Yakuza are the ones who provide things to the gangs, mostly illegal firearms and dangerous drugs. To think this man right here is part of such heinous organization.
"Have you calmed down?" Sasuke asked in boredom as he stare at the woman sitting across him in the living room. When what he said about being a Yakuza sink in, she suddenly hyperventilated and almost fainted. Of course Sasuke can't have her suddenly dying in such a petty way.
"Y-you're really a Yakuza." Sakura still couldn't shake off the quiver in her voice but at least she knew he wouldn't be harming her, yet.
"Do you still think I'm lying?"
Sakura shook her head and took a deep breath, composing herself. "Earlier, you were telling something. About a code, I think."
"You mean Omerta?"
Sakura nodded again, ushering him to continue.
"It's a code of silence that Mafia members swear as an oath."
"But I'm not a mafia member, I'm a Doctor."
Sasuke leaned in the couch and raised an eyebrow. "Really? Judging by the way you dumped that antiseptic on me last night, I wouldn't think for a second that you're a Doctor."
Sakura's face heats up in embarrassment as she averted her eyes. "That's because you threatened to kill me twice," she whispered.
"What?"
"Nothing!" Sakura instantly answered, shaking her head frantically.
Sasuke studied her features. Now that all the lights in the living room are on, he could very well see her clearly. She has that rare shade of pink hair that looks soft and fluffy. Her emerald eyes keep darting everywhere and Sasuke was tempted to put a hand on her chin and make her stare at him to look at her eyes. Her skin was pinkish pale and soft. She's beautiful and that's coming from Sasuke who had seen quite a lot of women before, mostly foreigners and mistresses of mafia leaders. But unlike those foreign women who look like high paid models with their heavy coat of make-up, this woman is different. Behind those sly and calculating eyes is innocence.
She hasn't change, Sasuke thought.
