Chapter 57: Summer and Promises

Two weeks had gone by after that incident and even then, Sakura had still felt the events are as surreal as they could get. She did tell Sasuke everything, although she wanted to leave the part where Konan treated her wounds and drove her back near the residence but Sasuke knew Sakura wasn't telling him everything so at the end, Sakura told him the whole story.

And the result of the incident was something Sakura had expected but even though she knew he'd say that, Sakura was still torn between being relieved or annoyed.

"From now on you're not going anywhere without me. The only time you're allowed to go on your own is when you are inside the vicinity of our residence."

Was what he said to her. Sure, the residence was quite big but it's not like Sakura is going to spend all day walking around the garden. And thus, Sakura found herself grocery shopping with Sasuke trailing beside her.

"You really don't have to come with me Sasuke-kun," Sakura said for the third time as she looked to her side and to Sasuke. "I know you're not very fond of grocery shopping. I can see it on your face."

Since they entered the supermarket, Sasuke had this scowl on his face. Unlike when he's usually stoic, which was better, he was actually scowling as if saying he's annoyed but not really saying it out loud. And Sakura has started to get influence by his annoyance that she's starting to get irritated as well.

"What's with your problem with grocery shopping anyways?" Sakura asked.

"Nothing," Sasuke muttered, though still loud for her to hear.

Earlier this day, when Sakura said she needed to buy stock of food, Sasuke told her to just ask one of the men to do it for her and give them the list of food to buy. But Sakura insisted that she wanted to go herself and when Sasuke agreed, of course, as a man of his word, Sasuke accompanied Sakura to the supermarket.

With a sigh, Sakura put the last food on her list and was on her way to the cashier, with Sasuke pushing the cart, when she noticed his scowl deepens.

"Just tell me what is it, Sasuke-kun!" Sakura said, raising her voice a bit but she really couldn't help herself when her husband was acting so out of character and childish which was a first.

Sasuke sighed inaudibly and averted his eyes as he looked somewhere further. "Are you not going to buy some tomatoes?"

His voice was slightly weak, almost sound like he was muttering but Sakura heard it loud and clear. Slowly her annoyance begun to vanish as Sakura snorted in an attempt to prevent herself from laughing but to no avail, Sakura burst into laughter as she shook her head and wiped tears from the side of her eyes from laughing too much. If it were someone else, Sasuke would have been annoyed, not that he is not already annoyed to begin with. But hearing her laugh so loud like that make him somewhat happy. But his face remained indifferent as Sakura took his arm.

"Alright, let's go get tomatoes. Is that why you're scowling?" Sakura asked as they walk towards the food aisle where the fresh fruits and vegetables are.

Sasuke didn't answer but his scowl was no longer plastered on his handsome face. "You're cute," Sakura muttered before she could stop herself.
