Dani waved her wand, and the beetle on her desk turned into a button-albeit a black one, with six legs and two antennae.
McGonagall sighed, then looked at the rest if the Gryffindor fourth-years, most of whom's beetles were squished, scuttling over their desks, or even flying around the classroom (which, as you can expect, is in complete chaos at the moment). "Well... I suppose so." She stalked away to make sure nobody accidentally charmed the beetles into multiplying.
Dani turned back to Ben-the situation in Transfiguration today was completely expected (because it's been like this all year so far), so Dani decided to take advantage of it to discuss the ball with Ben (of course, Dani thought it'd be amazing if Rowan was involved as well but she'd never agree so Dani decided to persuade her during their library study session after class-as you can imagine, Dani's questioning her sanity right now). "So you're... Worried that you'll step on your date's toes when you're dancing?"
"Uh, yeah..."
"Then you can go stag. A lot of people are."
"But I'm still scared."
Dani groaned. "I'll ask Flitwick at decoration committee for a hand."

"Why is everyone worrying about screwing up in front of their dates?" Dani looked quizzically at Rowan upon hearing that she didn't want to say the wrong thing to her date."It's a BALL, Dani. Many people don't go with a date but they always have to ASSUME they will."
"I can help," suggested Bill, who'd apprently listened in on their conversation. "Meet me at the Three Broomsticks on Saturday? Rowan?"
Rowan, who'd just been sitting there with her mouth hanging open, nodded. "...Yeah, be there."
"Alright, see you," said Bill, giving her an awkward half-wave.
Dani, who'd been noticing that Rowan had been acting like that whenever she was with Bill, even in their vault squad meetings, asked, "Your crush in another year?"
Rowan gave another nod, still gazing at the row of bookshelves Bill had just disappeared behind.

"MAXIMUS CONFIDENCIA!"The effect on Ben was immediate. "I feel like I'm the best dancer in the world!" He skipped off, whistling happily.
"Uh..." Dani turned to Flitwick, "Are there any side effects? How long does it last?"
"I'll tell you this, Miss Jackson," said Flitwick, "the confidence charm doesn't exist. Mr. Copper just needed a little boost. Now... How's everyone doing?"
"Ta da!" sang Penny, pointing at the decorations in the great hall.
"Very impressive, Miss Haywood," Flitwick clapped his hands. "And Mr. Egwu, Miss Karasu... How's 'project Ravenclaw' going?"
"Just lacking the finishing touches," Andre reported proudly.
"I sure hope it doesn't blow up in the wearer's face," Flitwick clearly gunned this line at Tulip.
"Hey Dani!"
Dani walked over to Rowan, who was charming the snowflakes in the background of the 'Merry Christmas' banner to look like they were actually falling like real snow on the grounds. "Nice one."
"Glad someone likes it. Anyway, as a thank you for helping me-and Ben, it seems (Rowan glanced at him still prancing around the great hall), I'm thinking we can help you ask 'that person' to the ball..."
