The group shrunk, and the highway was empty. One half was completely clear. Like everyone finally left. There was only about twenty people left. I learned everyone and their stories:
Andrea and Amy- Sisters. They were on a vacation they are about twelve years apart. They fish and have a gun. Andrea carries it. They are opposites but, are very close.
Dale- A widow man. His wife passed away from cancer and he did everything in his power to save her. Eventually, he just was driving back home. Landing him here in Georgia.
Glenn- College Student and a Pizza delivery guy. He's brave and could are less. He's a free sprit and a peace maker.
T-Dog- Theodore Douglass, he played college football and was a Church van driver. He openly is willing to go out on supply runs and anything else.
Merle and Daryl- I've known them since kindergarten. They both are the biggest trouble makers I know, but Daryl has a heart of gold and Merle is racist, sexist, and a little bit of a whore. I'm the span of a week, he has tried to get with me twice. Merle was in the army for a while, then he quit and became a drug dealer. Merle is at least ten years older than me, but Daryl and I are closer in age. Daryl and I didn't skip a beat when seeing each other, the last time I saw them they were adamant on teaching me how to hunt. Eventually they did, and being in the end of the world with them is perfect.
Jacqui and Jim- Jacqui worked at a Zoning area. Jim was and still is an Auto-Mechanic. We talk about cars all the time. Besides Carl and Lori, he might be my favorite person.
Ed, Carol, and Sophia- Sophia is Carl's new best friend. They play together, listen to music on the MP4 and hang out all the time. Ed likes to hit Carol but, no one has said anything. Ed didn't work before all this. Ed is a boorish, surly, combustible, abrasive, likely misogynistic, seemingly compassionless and vicious bully and that's what I think about him. Carol is a sweet, beautiful, strong, woman who is nothing less than perfect. She acts like a floor mat sometimes, and that's her downfall.
Morales and his family- I don't know much other than they are very kind and outgoing. Miranda- his wife- always is willing to help out even when it's inconvenient for her.
We all go along quite well, except Shane and I. Our daily screaming matches got worse and worse throughout the days. Sometimes we'd just scoff at the other and we'd scream about nothing.
Slowly, days turned into months. We'd been up here about two months when I figured out something huge- Lori and Shane have been sleeping together.
"What the hell is that?" I pointed out a hickey-like mark on Lori's waist when her shirt rolled up. She looked and shrugged.
"Probably just a bruise." Her face gave it all away. I knew the minute she pulled her shirt down more.
"Holy shit, who?" I smiled devilishly and Lori shook her head no. I tapped my foot and thought about everyone. "Not him. Definitely not him."
"Do not guess. I will end you." Lori filled her bucket up with water. I did as well and then the lightbulb turned on.
"Shane. Holy biscuits Lori!" I yelled and she shushed me. My eyes widened and I laughed. "I was kidding but, really?"
"Yes, really. Now can we focus." Lori ignored my question and we started back to camp.
"We are focused, I just need to know why." I walked at her fast pace.
"I don't know, it just helps. Anyway, what about you? Who's your current hook up?" Lori side grinned and I chuckled.
"No one yet, the only person here I'd even consider hooking up with is T-Dog but, I would rather someone with my energy." We laughed and entered camp getting the water ready to boil.
