Carl came out of surgery alright. He was gonna live. Shane went to take a shower and I had gone to bed for the night. The next day, out group had joined us at the farm we also had a small funeral service for the man they lost. Shane shaved all his hair off- which turned out to show his features more. After the service Everyone went about their day. I was ordering everyone around as always, between helping out with the search for Sophia and setting camp I was coordinating somehow. I'd set up Shane and I's tent farther away from everyone else. I let the 'adults' deal with the lead for searching for Sophia. My heart told me to keep on what I was doing. Keeping everyone calm and collected, trying to keep us all together.

"Y/n?" Carol's voice grabbed my attention. I turned around and smiled at her.

"Yes?" I looked at her. Carol is a mother, a strong mother figure too.

"Distract me. I know- I know you have a lot on your plate- but- well-" Carol didn't exactly know how to phrase it. I put my hand on her shoulder with large smile on my face.

"Well, between me and you I have a friend in this camp." I pulled my shirt down slightly to reveal my faded hickey and she gasped. "Hold this, please."

"Yes of course." Carol grabbed the part of the canopy I was holding. "Who?"

"Someone who isn't important right now. I need some advice." I sighed and she nodded. I pulled the opposite side over onto the base.

"What can I help with?" Carol smiled and helped me finish setting up the canopy.

"Walk with me." I smiled and we started walking away from the house and camp. "So, this guy-" I looked around. "Who is Shane."

"I figured as much." Carol chuckled and I smiled a bit. I looked at my hands and then up in the direction we were walking.

"Well- we slept together. Mind that I've wanted too since we were in high school. Anyway, I don't know how he feels and don't know how to really ask him." I sighed and fiddled my hands together. She stopped me with a raised eyebrow.

"That's what you aren't sure about? How to tell the man you obviously love that you love him?" Carol shook her head and looked down.

"Love is a bit strong." I rubbed the back of my neck and Carol looked me in the eye.

"Find a moment where the world isn't moving. A moment where it's just you and him, make sure it's not in the middle of sex either," We both laughed at the comment. "Be honest with him. If he doesn't feel the same, end it."

"Are you sure? He's only had flings with girls, nothing more. The last relationship I saw him in, he ended it because she couldn't turn off lights. He's picky!" I was enthusiastic about my words. Carol pulled me into a hug.

"He's picky because he wants you. Everyone here knows it, even Daryl does. Without saying anything Shane has put a claim on you, you belong to him. It's in his eyes Y/N. It's just there." Carol pulled back and looked me in the eye again. She teared up a bit. "Don't let him slip away. Now go tell him how you feel."

"Thank you Carol. You are amazing." I smiled and gave her another quick hug before running off and going about my day. Even Daryl does! What does that mean? I shook off the thought and saw Lori by the RV. She made eye contact with me and reluctantly walked over. She looked pale, like she was about to puke or just did.

"Carl has been asking for you." Her voice was low and direct. She avoided eye contact and was quiet.

"I'll make sure to go see him. Can I ask you something?" I looked at her and she nodded. "Why are you so pale right now?"
