After Shane and I's make out session I encouraged he go and talk to Lori. Apologize to Carl about everything under the sun. Lori knew Shane killed Otis. It broke her heart. Andrea was glaring at me like I'd taken candy from her. I ignored her, well, I did make a few snide comments.
"Andrea honey, you're looking a bit upset- is it that time of the month? I apologize if that-" I started. Andrea stormed off with a cloud over her head. I laughed as Shane came strolling over.
"What was that about?" Shane put an arm around my waist and I laughed.
"Nothing to serious. Are y'all about to leave to go find the boys?" I looked up at Shane and he nodded.
"Came to say goodbye. You go-" Shane was interrupted by the sound of a car driving up. I realized who it was and smiled bright.
"They're back!" I smiled and mentally fist-bumped myself. "Guess you'lol have to say goodbye another time."
"God damnit." Shane scoffed. "He's got the worst timing."
"Why? We're you going to do something to make up for not saying goodbye yesterday?" I raised an eyebrow. Shane slowly nodded and I chuckled.
"I was going to-" Shane lowered his head and whispered in my ear. "Gently kiss you, holding your ass with one hand and your waist with the other," Shane's hands grabbed my waist. "Pushing you up against this car making damn sure you stayed where you were. Letting everyone know you are mine, I was going to trail kisses down your neck, leaving you with that sensation before I left."
"I- I-" I barely got the words out. His low voice and gentle touch brought shivers down my spine. Shane shushed me and I smiled.
"I already know." Shane kissed my forehead before he let go. I found myself leaning with him taking a step before realizing what Daryl was next to me trying not to laugh about.
"Shut up Dixon. You did that too." I hissed at him and blushed. Daryl held his hands up and continued to hold back laughter.
I looked at the park with a sigh.
"Why'd he want to meet here?" I looked at the tree Daryl and I kissed under for the first time. We'd reconnected again and he told me that when I'm in town to let him know and we'd meet here. Well here I am and, I'm nervous. I opened my car door and walked up to the tree. I looked around and no Daryl.
"Y/n?" Daryl's voice. I turned around to see him standing there, still looking as redneck as he did when we were little.
"Daryl." I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him tight. "You are so much taller now."
"Yeah, you can't make fun of me for my height anymore." Daryl laughed as I pulled away to get a good look at him. He looked me up and down and smile. "Five years."
"It's really been that long? It felt like it was yesterday." I looked down and smiled. "I'm sorry I left."
"You are going to do better things than me, don't be sorry." Daryl grabbed my chin and had me look up at him.
"I'm leaving for home again tomorrow." I mumbled and Daryl sighed.
"Fuck it." Daryl's hands cupped my cheeks and he kissed me. When I kissed back he was shocked. I pulled away before him and he leaned with me to follow me.
"I'm sorry." I whispered as I walked back to my car. Daryl isn't a boyfriend, he's a friend.
I thought about my reunion with Daryl when I got out of college. How he kissed me, how much he felt for me. For how long. I nudged Daryl as we walked to the truck.
