Mikoto sat patiently in the waiting room with other civilians and shinobi. The hospital worked swiftly as medic nins and nurses rushed from one place to another and the stale smell of antiseptics filled her nose. She had grown far too used to this environment thanks to her middle child, who was the reason she was here today as well. Satsuki still had issues with his underdeveloped body as was noted during his stay here after the kidnapping. The injuries from whoever harmed him were painfully slow to heal. In fact, for someone who was born into a shinobi clan as powerful as the Uchiha, he healed slower than a civilian. It was alarming. The bruises and cuts were completely healed, but the tissue damage remained, and the medic nins assured her it was best to have them heal naturally.

She clenched her fists as anger grew within her. Fugaku told her that the men who held their son captive were killed aside from the few who were currently held at Torture and Interrogation. She wondered if they'd been executed already and wished she could be the executioner.

Mikoto let out a tired sigh. Satsuki wasn't showing as much trauma as one would expect. Although she was more than glad for it, it was confusing. Aside from the moments he would rather be left within the dark and shied away fearfully from light, and nightmares which Itachi had informed her of, he was how he had always been: a silent and sullen child. She didn't think they'd need any serious therapy for Satsuki other than having him socialize more out of their household. Minato's students were perfect for now, but she hoped he would make friends with those his own age.

Her children all had to be old souls. She just wished at least Sasuke would be a normal child who would want nothing more than to have fun as a toddler. She suddenly brightened at the reminder that Kushina was to give birth today. She must have already been taken to her birthing place somewhere outside of the village. It was honestly like fate for two best friends to have children within the same year. Sasuke and Naruto would have many playdates and then they would grow up in the academy together, as shinobi and best friends of their own. It was such a delightful thought that she couldn't help the small smile which spread across her lips.

"Mikoto-san?"

She looked up to see the girl who called out to her. Nohara Rin walked up to where she was seated. She was a mature young girl, caring and kind, and Mikoto felt a sense of guilty relief that she had been with Satsuki during the kidnapping. Still, she had grown fond of the girl. "Ah, Rin-Chan. Already back to working at the hospital so soon?" She asked politely.

Rin nodded sheepishly. "There's nothing that's holding me back from working again. Are you here for Satsuki's updated report? What about the boys?"

"Yes, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else to worry about. His tissues are repairing fine with the medications, but it's a slow process. Since the Uchiha clinic is going through a rather heavy restock I missed giving him his dosage today." Mikoto shook her head, "I hope he doesn't feel the pain."

Rin smiled reassuringly. "Satsuki is much stronger than he seems."

Mikoto chuckled pleasantly. "He is." She agreed before remembering Rin's second question. "I left Itachi to watch over them. There's no point in dragging Sasuke and Satsuki along when it's just a short visit."

Rin was about to respond when a loud alarm had her and Mikoto stand alert. "That's the invasion warn--" Her words were cut off by a blast coming from the east end of the hospital. "The emergency ward!" She exclaimed.

"Rin, protect the civilians here. I have to get back to my children." Mikoto said, before she disappeared using shunshin.

Rin quickly escorted the civilians within the common area safely out of the emergency doors and to the back of the building where there was a tunnel leading to the shelters built inside the Hokage mountain. A few chuunin met up with her that she assumed was assigned to protect everyone within the hospital. "The experienced chuunins will come with me. Rookies will stay guarding the tunnel." She ordered. She knew how to command a battleground as a field medic and quickly ran to where the hospital was damaged. "Any orders from the commander?" She asked a jounin who led a defensive tracking team by the perimeters of the blast. She knew Minato, their Hokage, was not available to give orders so soon.
