scenario one
kaede had been acting strange lately.
(y/c) hadn't noticed it at first, but now they had what was basically a running list of all the odd things that had happened. she seemed considerably paler than she was a few weeks ago, and they had a guess as to why- kaede almost always refused any trip outside, whether it was just from across campus or into town. it was allergy season, she'd told (y/c)- and she didn't want to be outside with all the pollen. but kaede had never mentioned having allergies before. additionally, they couldn't remember the last time that they'd seen kaede eat in front of them. she always showed up to lunch late, claiming that she'd gotten something to eat from her dorm already. but she also seemed a lot more tired than usual- and was she getting skinnier? it seemed like she was starving herself- and (y/c) wasn't exactly wrong.
(y/c) and kaede were hanging out in the dorm common room one night, long after they should have been asleep. but they were really good friends- they didn't care. however, in the middle of their conversation, kaede put her head in her hands. (y/c) asked if she was alright, and kaede gave a muffled hum of affirmation. " y-yeah , i'm fine , just ... just dizzy ... "
after a minute, kaede gathered up the energy to sit back up again, ready to start conversation again- but she was simply too exhausted to go on. she passed out, collapsing on (y/c)'s lap. as they weren't exactly in a place to move and go get help, they tried to wake her up, gently shaking her shoulder and calling her name. it wasn't until a few minutes later that she woke up, eyes fluttering open. " (y/c) ~? " she asked quietly, looking up at (y/c) with her head on their lap. she had a low, dangerously sweet tone to her voice, and there was some kind of a glint in her eyes that they didn't recognize.

scenario two
about a week or so ago, (y/c) and kaede had had an unlucky encounter.
(y/c) was a vampire, but that was a secret that they had been able to keep pretty well. they didn't want to think about what would happen if people knew, so they adapted to it- hiding, giving excuses. one day, however, it became difficult to hide.
(y/c) was starving, and they knew that when they were this hungry, they lost control and became violent. not wanting to hurt anyone, (y/c) had quickly excused themselves and hid. unfortunately, kaede had thought that this was a cause for concern, and followed them. when she found them, she called out their name, and before she knew it, (y/c) had her pinned to a wall, hand covering her mouth so she couldn't scream. before she could protest, they sunk their fangs into her neck, drinking her blood. (y/c) pulled back once their hunger was satisfied, but before they let her go, they warned her that if she ever told anybody about their secret, they'd drain her. when she nodded, eyes wide, they let her go, and she ran off. once (y/c) came back to their senses, they realized what they'd done, and immediately retired to their room for the night.
the pianist wasn't seen again for the rest of the night, but arrived at school the next morning as if nothing happened- with the exception of the fact that she now wore a choker in order to cover up the bite marks on her neck.
days turned into a week, and (y/c) had been so busy with schoolwork that they hadn't had any blood since their run-in with kaede. they hadn't been able to get any animal blood- which was what they preferred, since it didn't involve hurting a human. they could feel themselves losing control- they needed to get to their dorm, and fast. they began to head back to their room, walking as quickly as they could. they promised themselves that they wouldn't let themselves hurt any of their friends again.
" hey , are you alright ? " called a voice from in front of (y/c). they looked up, having been incredibly focused on the floor, and there was kaede, with a worried expression on her face. " did something happen ? "
