monokuma had announced a new motive yesterday that left the students worried and confused. a few 'lucky' students would wake up tomorrow as the opposite gender, and if no murders occurred in two days, a few more would be affected, and so on. a lot of students doubted that this motive was even real- how would monokuma be able to do something as drastic as that?
when (y/c) woke up to the announcement the next morning and remembered the motive, they quickly ran to the bathroom to check their appearance in the mirror. they looked the same, and everything was normal with their body. hoping that the motive had been a lie, (y/c) got dressed and went to the cafeteria to check in with everybody else.
they were immediately proved wrong. it seemed like everyone was already there, and three students looked different- two boys and one girl had been affected by the motive, and all of them were freaking out over it. however, something didn't seem right to (y/c). why would three people be affected? weren't there sixteen people? if monokuma had planned ahead for a situation where everyone could be affected... shouldn't there be two?
or four?
doing a quick headcount, (y/c) suddenly realized that there was only fifteen people in the dining hall, including them. someone was missing.
hoping desperately that whoever was missing was just late, and not dead, (y/c) quickly excused themselves, going back to the dorm complex. they started knocking on the doors, skipping over the dorms of people that they'd remembered seeing. once they reached kaede's, they knocked on her door, asking if anyone was in there. there was no response for a moment, and they were about to move on, before-
" g - go away ... " a voice mumbled from the other side of the door. it didn't sound exactly like kaede, but it was still... coming from her dorm.
