kaede akamatsu had a reputation for being tough.
she was confident in herself and her abilities and rarely let anyone else talk down to her. she knew how to pick her battles at this school, who to avoid, and who she could trust. she never cried, and in fact, (y/c) couldn't remember the last time she'd seen her vulnerable. until now, that was.
school had ended thirty minutes ago. many students left, some stayed behind, whether it was for an activity or just to hang around. (y/c) rode the bus, and they were told that it was going to be late today- about an hour late. they'd been trying to pass the time before they stood up, walking through the halls in order to find somewhere else, somewhere better to wait for another half hour- when they heard something from a room on their right.
all the teachers had left for the day, so it wasn't one of them. it was a smaller room, about half the size of a normal classroom. out of curiosity, (y/c) looked through the small window on the door to see what was going on.
it was kaede. she had her earbuds in, and was sitting at a table, with her back to the door. she was quietly singing along to the song she was listening to, tapping her fingers to the beat. (y/c) opened the door a crack- thankfully, kaede didn't hear- too enveloped in the song.
" love is the answer, at least for most of the questions in my heart

(y/c) knew kaede liked music- she worked at the record store a couple of streets down- but this was not the type of song they'd ever imagine her singing- or even liking, for that matter. it was so sweet, and her voice was so quiet and nice. they'd never seen this side of her.
