intro
the nighttime announcement had come over the monitors a few minutes ago, and slowly but surely, everybody started to head back to their rooms- to continue the routine of living in this academy and in this killing game. the monokubs had mentioned that there was something that they were supposed to announce, but it hadn't been put in the script. that was confusing enough, but (y/c) didn't pay any mind to it, figuring that it was a problem for tomorrow morning. for right now, they were tired.
however, when they entered the dorm building, everybody was gathered there, standing outside their doors, and talking over each other. too tired to deal with this right now, (y/c) headed to their dorm room, putting their key in the door and twisting it. the door wouldn't budge. the lock was stuck. looking back around again, that seemed to be the problem with everybody else too.
the monitor in the dorm complex chimed, causing everybody to fall silent, turning to look at it. monokuma's image fizzed onto the screen. " good evening , students ! " he greeted excitedly. " it seems like i've gotten too caught up in my own activities , and neglected to convey the message to my adorable little kids about your new motive ! "
(y/c)'s breath caught in their throat. another one? and why was it being announced this late at night? " as you've probably noticed , all your doors are unable to be unlocked . that won't be an issue for long , though ! " clicking sounded from all over the room, and it seemed like everybody's doors had unlocked. " you see , one very lucky winner isn't allowed to go in their dorm room anymore ! not until someone is killed , that is ! " the bear exclaimed. " another person will be locked out tomorrow night , and so on , until someone dies ! unfortunately , that winner is gonna be veery vulnerable ! they can't lock themselves in their room to avoid any potential attackers , and i've made sure to take the locks off their lab door , as well ! so if you wanna get away with killing someone , tonight is the best night to do it , before there are more students roaming around at night ! so sweet dreams , good night , and good luck to that very special person ! " and with that, the screen fizzed out.
a few moments after monokuma had disappeared from the screen, students tried to open their dorms again. (y/c) could hear sighs of relief as most of the students were able to get in. hesitantly, they turned the key again.
scenario one
the doorknob turned, and the door opened. (y/c), too, let out a sigh of relief, knowing that they'd be safe for the night. however, instead of immediately going to bed, they turned around, curious as to who was locked out.
kaede was the last one with her door shut, still trying to shift the key into any position where it would unlock the door. after a few more seconds, though, she seemed to give up, taking the key out and putting it in her pocket.
what do you do?
scenario two
the doorknob wouldn't budge, and (y/c)'s breath caught in their throat again. how? how had they been chosen, out of so many other students?
desperately, they turned around to see that most people had gone into their dorms already, too tired to care. but (y/c) suddenly made eye contact with kaede, who was looking at them from across the room. ' you okay ? ' she mouthed, concern evident in her expression.
