scenario one
village encounter
(y/c) lived in the village just outside the akamatsu castle, which belonged to the royal family that ruled over their small country. they often saw royal processions in their street, so they were well-accustomed to seeing the king, queen, and their teenage daughter, the princess, from afar.
one day, they were headed to go to the market, and take care of their family's shopping for the day, when they spotted a girl about their age on the other side of the path. (y/c) couldn't recognize them, partially due to the fact that she was wearing a scarf on her head, that covered most of her hair, and made it a little harder to see her face. curious, they walked closer, greeting the girl so that she'd turn around.
she startled a bit, but turned around. " ah - hello ! how are you today ? " the girl asked politely.
suddenly, (y/c) realized that they recognized her, but not as someone they'd ever spoken to before- it was the akamatsu princess! but why was she here, in the town, trying to hide herself?
what do you do?

scenario two
arranged marriage (you knew this was coming.)
(y/c) had been told by their parents, the king and queen of their kingdom, that there had been talk of war and fighting recently with a nearby kingdom- which meant that they needed to be well-prepared. unfortunately for (y/c), being well-prepared meant forming alliances.
(y/c)'s kingdom was neutral with the akamatsu royal family, and had been for a long time. but (y/c)'s parents knew that they ruled over a powerful kingdom, and they'd rather have them as an ally than an enemy. quickly, within the span of a week, the news was broken to (y/c)- they were to marry the akamatsu princess in order to form an alliance with her kingdom.
(y/c) was understandably upset- they wanted to marry somebody they loved, not some stuck-up princess from some random kingdom just because their parents said so! but their parents told them that there was no going back- the king, queen, and princess would be arriving tomorrow morning. the adults would discuss peace and the terms of their alliance, and (y/c) and the princess would get to know each other.
sure enough, (y/c) was woken up bright and early the next morning, hurried into one of their nicer outfits, and quickly escorted to the throne room. about ten minutes later, the doors opened, and the princess and her parents processed in. (y/c) spaced out for all the formal introductions, not wanting to listen to any of it.
