over a year ago, (y/c) had asked kaede out on a date. she'd said yes enthusiastically. on their first date, she'd confessed that she'd had a crush on them and was hoping they would make the first move.

a year ago in a week, (y/c) had asked kaede to be their girlfriend. she agreed. " i'm so lucky to have you , " she'd mumbled on their first official date as partners. " you care so much about me . "

eleven months ago, kaede had gone over to (y/c)'s house for a movie night. " i've actually never been a relationship before , " the pianist confessed. " and i've always heard that your first is supposed to be a learning experience , that your first relationship never lasts . but this just feels right . " (y/c) thought for a moment before repeating- your first is supposed to be a learning experience?
" yeah , " she nodded. ' does that go for kisses too ? ' they'd asked, and in a sudden burst of confidence, (y/c) gently pulled kaede's face to their level, kissing her. her lips melted into theirs. they both closed your eyes. everything was perfect.
but i don't even know how the chemistry works
when you're poolside
four months ago, (y/c) was over at kaede's house. her parents weren't home. she'd pulled them into a kiss. after what they felt like was an appropriate amount of time, (y/c) tried to take it a step further, starting to make out with her. they'd been dating for over half a year, this was inevitable by this point, right? it wasn't obvious, but kaede was hesitant. she wasn't sure she wanted to do this. but she went along with it.
kicking in the dirt, kicking in the sand
and stirring up trouble
by this point, that type of thing was normal. the two were an affectionate couple, and they always snuck a quick kiss when nobody was looking and often made out when no one was around. they held hands more often than not when they were together.

it was a week until (y/c)'s and kaede's one-year anniversary of becoming each other's significant others. it should have been perfect, but (y/c) had begun to notice kaede flinch sometimes when they touched her, and hesitate when they kissed her. something was wrong, and they were going to find out what.

the end of the school day came around quickly, and (y/c) wanted to meet up with kaede and talk to her about whatever was going on. she shut her locker door just as they walked up to her, and she smiled, moving to kiss them on the cheek. " hey ! how are you ? " she smiled.
