Chapter 16

The next morning I want to kill the nurse for waking me up, I was not ready for that at all, AND she says something about how my medication changed, but I don't care. This talking thing in the morning is just not for me. 

I just want to sleep, which is what I do for another hour and then I decide to wake up because I told my mom I'd call her first thing in the morning. I go to the bathroom, do what I gotta do and then call my mom. She tells me how she feels bad because she wasn't here, I tell her how it's fine blah blah blah. I then decide to walk down to the lobby to see if Kai's there today, I just go in my pajamas, I really don't care this morning. Once again, he is no where in sight. I can't help but wonder where he is and if he is okay. 

I walk back to my room, and change my outfit because Maya is coming but I'm distracted by the fact that tomorrow I have another immunotherapy session which I can't say I'm looking forward to, it really is exhausting, just thinking about doing it 3 more times makes me feel tired. I sigh and decide to change into jeans and a pink top because 'on Wednesdays we wear pink.'

I make Maya's list for the videos and then make the videos the same way I made Jason's. 10 minutes after that, Maya walks in with a strange look on her face. 

"Maya what's wrong?" then Jason walks in with a similar look on his face."What's going on?" I ask feeling very outnumbered. 

"Ave, you know me better than anyone, you know I love you more than anyone else in the world..." Maya says standing beside Jason who hasn't said a word. 

"Okay now you guys are freaking me out, Jason what's going on?" 

"Remember the story I told you yesterday about me and Sarah breaking up?"

"Yeah she cheated on you?"

"Well, that wasn't entirely true, I left her, she didn't cheat." Now I'm confused, why would he lie to me?

"Why would you lie to me?"

"I left her because I fell in love with someone else," he says and then takes Mayas hand into his own.

"No," I say in disbelief.

"Yes Ave, I love him."

"No you can't, he's like 30 and you're my age, what the hell?"

"I'm actually-" I cut Jason off.

"How?? When??"

"Remember your brothers birthday party that we helped with?"

"That was 6 months ago." I can't believe what I'm hearing. I close my eyes, and take deep breathes.

"Yes it was, you were asleep and everyone was gone and I was helping Jj clean up-"

"Jj?????" I say in a very disgusted tone.

"Sorry, Ja-" I cut Maya off to ask a question that will determine how the rest of this conversation goes. I look Jason dead in the eyes and ask,"Did you screw my best friend, 6 months ago?"

"Avery listen-" he starts by saying,

"ANSWER ME DAMMIT JASON, DID YOU SCREW MY BEST FRIEND 6 MONTHS AGO, YES OR NO????"

"Yes," he says with his head down. I can feel the rage overtaking every atom in my body.

"And how many times after that?" I say with my teeth grinding against each other. 

"Too many to count," he says softly. 

"Maya. Is this true?" she doesn't say anything. 

"MAYA IS THIS TRUE???" she jumps at my sudden loud voice. 

"Yes, yes it's true, but I am so sorry for lyi-"

"Shut up."

"Avery," Jason scolds. My blood is boiling I can feel my veins about to explode, I'm feeling betrayed, disappointed and SO furious that I have no idea how to act. 

I walk slowly to Jason, he backs up until he hits the wall behind him, I stand an inch away from him and say, "Leave.Now...And don't you dare come back. Both of you." I turn around and walk to the window, praying that they leave in exactly 2 seconds before I pick up this bed and throw it at them. Fortunately for them, I hear the door close. 

After a few seconds, I take both my hands, ball them up into fists and bang them onto my bed and to make sure the nurses don't  hear me, I scream my lungs out into my pillow and just start crying.
