Chapter 57

Kai's pov

"YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS TO COME OUT PEACEFULLY BEFORE WE SHOOT!"

"Shit. That's Vesper."

"Vesper?" Avery asks.

"Salutis... we kind of worked for them but then we betrayed them to find you so now they want us dead," Lorenzo explains.

"20 SECONDS!" She is using a microphone and I hear helicopters. Why is she treating us like we blew up the white house? 

"What do we do ?" Lorenzo asks.

"Make sure no one steps foot into this room," Palmer responds. 

"10, 9, 8..." news flash Vesper, this is not hide and seek, you found us, all you have to do is come get us.

"...3, 2, 1. LOOKS LIKE WE'RE DOING THIS THE HARD WAY THEN!" we all jump when we hear the front door being knocked down. Why did they knock it down? It was unlocked. Idiots. 

"It's time to put our training to use," I smirk and change into Arlo. 

5 men march up the stairs with their guns, Palmer levels the playing field by snapping their guns in half. While they are still looking at their broken guns, I run towards them and push two over the stair rail, knock two out and the last one tried to punch me but then realized that it's like punching a wall, shame, he started to run, but I pulled him back and knocked him out too. 

"I get the next batch," Lorenzo says getting excited, so I shift into myself and guard the door with Palmer. 

6 more men come up the stairs and Lorenzo walks into the first room in the hall, to catch them off guard I presume. When all 6 of them are pointing their guns at us, Lorenzo blasts them with a wave from the side and they fall down like bowling pins, one left a hole in the wall, he flew right out. He comes out of the room smiling, "That was so funny, they went down like dominoes," he says laughing but then he stops and asks, "Where's Palmer?" I look behind me and she's not there. I look in the room and she's there, floating to Avery. 

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"I need to  get a better look at this bomb to see if there's a way I can remove it."

"Be careful. We'll hold it down out here."

"THEY ARE UPSTAIRS. SHOOT TO KILL," I walk to the hole Lorenzo's domino made and shout,"Wow Vesper! I thought we were friends!"

"WE WERE. THEN YOU ROBBED ME."

"Only to rescue Avery because you weren't doing anything! It's nothing personal!"

"NEITHER IS THIS!" 

We hear a loud bang and then rubble starts falling on us, I look up...oh no.

"She is literally raising the roof off this place," I say making my way back to Lorenzo. Men start lowering themselves down from the helicopter. I run the the wall, "Vesper! We don't want to kill anyone, if you try touch Avery, we won't hesitate to go all out. You have seen only a tenth of what we can do!" 

"I COULD SAY THE SAME TO YOU MR GRAYSON," damn, that microphone thing of hers is annoying. We did try to do this nicely, but her men are still coming. I nod at Lorenzo and he hits the helicopter out of the sky with his wave. 

"Is that the best you've got Vesper?" Lorenzo shouts. 

2 minutes after he said that, we notice missiles headed towards us in the distance. 

"Palmer. Incoming," I say looking at them flying toward us, she comes back to the hallway and redirects the missiles at Vesper and them. If that doesn't kill them then I don't  know what will.

"Palmer," I say when she falls to the ground. 

"I'm okay, just used too much energy," she says softly. 

"Okay just rest for a few minutes, we'll take care of them," Lorenzo says comfortingly, I smile when I realize how much he cares about her.  

When the smoke starts clearing up we hear, "YOU GOTTA TRY A LITTLE HARD THAN THAT!" How??? Oh, she  has some sort of forcefield around her and the trucks. What is in those trucks? Guess we're about to find out because she raises the back of the one. 

How lovely. It's the hulk man prisoner she showed us. He is climbing the house, so gracefully(total sarcasm, he looks like King Kong climbing the empire state building).He gets into the hall and Lorenzo hits him back down with a wave. 

"I'll take this one," I say. I shift into the Hulk guy and jump to the ground. He is still lying down so I use this opportunity to punch him over and over and over again until he stops moving then pick him up and throw him at Viola. She wasn't kidding when she told me about his anger, I can feel his rage trying to take over so I climb back into the house and change into my normal self before it manages to control me. There are 3 trucks, that means 3 secret weapons. If hulk was sent out first it means he was the weakest. Who the hell is in the other two?

"I can't remove the bomb," Palmer says when she weakly stands up.  

"Plan B?" Lorenzo asks.

"We buy more time to figure this out," she responds. 

"We don't have much," I say looking at Vesper lifting both truck doors. 

"I got these," Palmer says. When the doors open, two women come out. Thank god she didn't bring the deadly venom girl. I've never seen these two before. 

The one opens her mouth and starts blowing... ice? 

"Yo Elsa, heads up!" Lorenzo shouts as Palmer throws her up and down until she's unconscious. 

The other girl closes her eyes and the clouds all go dark grey. Thor? Is that you? Yes it is. 

Shit. 

"Can we fight Thor?" I turn to Palmer.

"We can't. But Lorenzo can. He can counteract lightning with his waves." 

"That's great, why do you look unsure?" 

"Only issue is that it could cause a massive explosion which could easily trigger Avery's  bomb."

"Then let's take out the source before she gets the chance to strike."

"I think we're a little late," Palmer says looking up at the lightning bolt headed right towards us. She throws the 3 of us across the hall to keep us safe. It worked, and Avery's bomb didn't go off, the only problem is there's a giant hole between where we are and Avery's room. 

"KAI!" Avery shouts.

"Avery!" I shout back knowing she just wanted to know if I survived that. 

"Kai we have a problem," I look at Lorenzo hovering over Palmer who is passed out. 

"She's still breathing. She must have overused her powers," I observe, "Uh oh." 

There's another bolt heading right for us, this is it.
