After my mom left, I decided to call Maya, but she didn't answer, I figured she's just busy with dinner so I send her a message.

"Hey M, I need answers ! xoxo Ave" Short and sweet.

My eyes are so dried out because of all the crying I did writing those letters, when my mom asked why my eyes were so puffy I told her it's just the medication. I find myself closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.

Kai's pov

I wait outside the house until Maya comes out hoping to get a picture or a video of her in the act as proof, I plan on telling Avery, not because I want to be that  guy but I do feel like she has the right to know about this, after all, it is her brother.

The front door swings open, Jason in his night gown, I roll down my window and use my phone to record.

"Perfect," I whisper to myself, because Jason just gave Maya a long ass goodbye kiss. Isn't he like 20 ?

I close my window and wait for Maya to leave. When she finally does, I start thinking about my next move. I really don't want to hurt Avery by letting her find out about this through a third party, it would be better if Jason and/or Maya told her themselves.

Looks like I'm crashing a family dinner, well, it's not technically crashing because I am family, it's the only way to get to Maya now. I start my car and make my way to her house, it's around here somewhere.

I recognize her house and park. I run my fingers through my hair and walk up to the front door. Mrs Henley answers, "Kai? What are you doing here? Did your father send you?" she asks while rolling her eyes, I guess it's time to work my charm now.

"Hi Mrs Henley, no my dad did not send me, I heard what happened, sometimes he really doesn't think things through, he has no clue where I am, I just had to come here to apologize on behalf of him and make sure you're okay." I add a little warm smile at the end to top it all off.

"How does someone so sweet come from a man like your father," I smile even though I feel like drop kicking her right here because she has no idea what she's talking about. But then she adds, "Would you like to join us for dinner?" There we go.

"Oh no I wouldn't want to impose, I'll just get takeouts on my way home," I say with a hint of sadness in my voice to seal the deal.

"Oh don't be silly Kai, I insist," she says pulling me inside and closing the door, and that ladies and gentlemen is what we call finesse.

As I enter the kitchen, I see Maya carrying food to the table, when she notices me standing there, she puts the food down quickly and rushes to hug me, "Kai, what a nice surprise," she says while hugging me, and I return the gesture so she can hear my next words nice and clearly.

"I know about you and Jason..." She tries to pull away from the hug but I hold her tightly, "You're my cousin, so I'm giving you the chance to tell Avery about this yourself, you have exactly 48 hours, starting from midnight," I let her go a little and then I remember I haven't gotten to the good part yet, so I pull her back in, "Oh and if you guys don't tell her, then I will, and there's evidence, so don't even think about lying your way out of this one." I let her go and give her a smile.

I take a slice of pizza off of the table,"My dad just texted, he wants me home right now, I have to go, but thanks for the offer." I say to Mrs Henley in my nicest voice while heading towards the door.

I get in my car and the first place I want to go to is the hospital to check in on Avery, I noticed that when I visited her this morning, her nose was all red and her eyelashes were drenched in tears, just like the night I followed her up the hill, something was definitely wrong. Just because she's cute when she cries does not mean I like seeing her cry, I just want to make all her problems disappear, but I can't go see her for 48 hours, she's the last person I want to withhold information from.
