Chapter 46

Two weeks have passed, still no sign of Dane, Kai was right, it's going to take him a while to undo what he did to him. We found Danes headquarters, well multiple hideouts sprinkled around the city, mainly because of Palmer, she found the locations by going inside the minds of the snitches following us. Each hide out had a case filled with serums, all of them were the same, but one case was different, the serum was blue in this case unlike the others with white serums. Either way, Kai and Lorenzo destroyed all of them, there's still no sign of Dane anywhere, besides his goons and none of them know where Dane is.

TJ, Julia and Emilia are living together now, Palmer has been teaching Emilia to control her powers, she's the only person who can get through to her, we installed panic buttons all over their apartment that don't only alert security, it alerts all the fulminares too, well the trusted ones, which includes myself, Kai, Lorenzo and Palmer. Arlo has also been missing, we assume he is helping Dane somewhere, Kai turned into him and then told his dad that he has to take care of a few personal things. We've all been trying to find Dane, keeping our eyes out and training, especially working on our plan for when we see him again. We're not letting him escape next time.

However, today is the one day we all agreed to put all of that aside, it is my birthday, as much as I dreaded this day, everyone needs a break and this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

"Hey sweetie, you ready?" my dad says right outside my door.

"Yeah, I'll be out in a second."

"Okay, I'll be waiting downstairs," the excitement is very evident in his voice.

I take one last look in the mirror, I feel like I'm on my way to prom in this long, red, sparkly dress with a slit down my leg which my mom picked it out for me, my long hair curled perfectly and my make up a bit over the top but glamorous. I grab my purse and make my way downstairs.

"You look beautiful Ave," dad says giving me his hand as I reach the bottom of the staircase. He is taking me to the restaurant, the others are already there, they wanted me to be the last person to arrive so that I have a dramatic entrance. I have no idea what I'm walking into, they wouldn't answer any of my questions. All I know is that the main course is my favourite, the restaurants Tagliatelle alla Bolognese pasta, but as for everything else, I have not a single clue. 

 We finally arrive and a wave of nervousness hits me, I don't know why, it's just a room full of people I know who will scream happy birthday when I walk in, there's nothing to be nervous about, right?

I hook my arm with my dads and we walk towards the door, he opens it and it's dark, no one switches on any lights, no one screams happy birthday, nothing, which makes me even more nervous if I'm being honest. I look at my dad with a confused look and he smiles at me, all of a sudden a spotlight turns on pointing at what seems like the stage/dancing area and my mom steps into it with a mic. Music starts playing and she starts singing 'I got you' by Ciara.

"Go on and sit over there Ave," My dad whispers in my ear while pointing to a chair, standing alone in front of the stage. I walk towards it smiling, telling myself not to cry, her angel voice reminds me of the times she used to sing to Jason and I when we were much younger. It's been years since I've heard her sing. Just as she is about to hit the chorus the whole stage area lights up and there's a choir filled with all my favourite people singing along... Kai, Lorenzo, Palmer, TJ, Malachi, Melanie, Maya, Jason, Chloe, my dad, even Kai's dad. I can't hold it back anymore, the tears starts running down my face as they continue to sing.
