The ghost of Mason Lockwood watches Faye sleep for a moment, he cannot believe this. She's a hybrid and triggered her curse. He had watched her while on the other side, hoping and praying she wouldn't but she's been doing good lately. Mason can't judge her for liking who she likes because he was a fool, and fell in love with the manipulative Katherine Pierce. Once Mason is done checking on Faye, he leaves before she wakes.

Faye goes to the town square, she has volunteered to help prepare for the Night of Illuminations. Faye is helping some people hang lanterns from trees with. Faye had a bloodbag before leaving so her hunger is satisfied as of right now.

"As a long time member of the Historical Society, I am especially proud to be kicking off this day of festivities," Carol says to the crowd. "Thank you, volunteers. Tonight, we turn off our town's lights and flare up our lanterns in honor of the night of illuminations started by our founders one hundred and fifty years ago. Here's founding family member Tobias Fell with a history lesson."

Faye stops what she's doing and she watches as Tobias makes his way to the stage. She fixes the beanie on top of her head as she watches him him fo up to the podium.

"The first illumination as held in celebration with the newfound prosperity that Mystic Falls enjoyed after the war," Tobias begins. "The founders, they placed laters over the doors to indicate that it was safe for their neighbors to come outside again. That night was an opportunity of Mystic Falls to come together, a chance to strengthen ties with neighbors, business owners, and the...."

Faye feels someone touch her shoulder but she sees no one as she turns her head, same with on the other side of her. Faye freezes and she stares ahead at Tobias, trying to ignore the spirits touching her. Who are thst, and what do they want?

Alaric and Damon are at the bar and Mason shows up.

"Mason..." Alaric gasps.

"God, I kiss whiskey," Mason muses as he takes a drink and he smashes the glass against Damon's forehead.

"Told ya."

"Mom!"  Faye shrieks as she hugs the ghost. "Oh, my god!"

Laney sobs as she hugs her daughter tightly as Lori walks over. She grins at the sight of the mother and daughter hugging. Faye sobs into her mom's neck.

"Let's go find Mason," Laney whispers, and Faye follows her.

"Mason?" Faye says as he takes a shot.

"Faye!" Mason chants. "C'mere!"

Faye smiles and she rushes over, hugging Mason. The world grunts at the impact but he wraps his arms around her and twirls her around in a hug.

"There you are," Mason muses, and he wraps an arm around her shoulder before grabbing another shot glass and pours Faye one. "One of you will pay for this, right? Cheers."

Faye and Mason loft the shot glasses and down the whiskey. Faye coughs at the strength of the whiskey but licks her lips, it was good.

"Let's get to it," Damon says. "I killed you. You want revenge. Get in line."

"Actually, I want an apology," Mason replies.

Faye snorts. "You serious! Good luck with that one, you cutie."

Mason rolls his eyes. "Shut up, hybrid... I want you to turn for me befofe your cousin fixes this."

Faye smirks and she hugs Mason's side again. She's missed him.

"Don't you have a family to haunt?" Damon asks. "You know your nephew has turned into a mindless hybrid minion."

"That's why in here," Mason replies. "To help Tyler, amd to see Faye again."

"Well, sorry to break it to you, buddy, but Tyler can't be helped," Damon claims. "At least not while Klaus is alive. Which is, like, always."

"Not necessarily... sorry Faye," Mason says. "Not if you found a weapon that could kill him."

"There is no weapon that... what do you know?" Damon asks.

"We know your need to apologize first," Laney de,ands.

"Really, mama Laney?" Damon grumbles and Laney nods. "You have got to be kidding me."

"Are you incapable of remorse?" Alaric asks impatiently. "Just apologize!"

"You're right," Damon says to Mason. "I didn't have to kill you. I do a lot of things I don't have to do."

Mason laughs. "That's good enough." He kisses Faye's head before he takes his bark back. "Meet me and Laney at the old Lockwood cellar. Being a shovel." He glances at Alaric and back to Damon. "Come alone."

"What's you guys gonna bury me alive?" Damon asks.

"Don't tempt me," Laney says and Damon's eyes widen. "You killed my baby, Damon."
***********************

Mason and Faye go into the trees while it's still daylight with Laney. Faye goes into some bushes and she strips off her clothes and she turns. It gets quicker but it's still painful.

Laney smiles when the solid white wolf walks over. "Hi, baby."

Mason circles Faye until she growls, and he surrenders. "You two bond, I'll go to Damon."

Laney nods and Mason leaves. Faye turns back and she goes to the quarry with her mother.

"This is where I dumped your ashes," Faye asks. "In the water."

"Thank you," Laney whispers as she holds Faye's hand. "I love you, so much."

Faye and her mom are cuddling, talking about Klaus when suddenly Laney isn't there anymore..

"No," Faye whimpers as she looks around the quarry. "No.no'" Faye falls to her knees and hides her hands in her face and she sobs, she lost her mother all over again.
