Escape The Dead

Chapter 11- Fun Time At The Mall

Gina woke up feeling awful, she grunted and try to move her arm but couldn't. Gina tilt her head up to the side to see Nicole sleeping on her arm with Jillian by her side. She looked to the boys who is sleeping by the busted door. She smiled to see everyone sleeping so peacefully. She tugged her arm away from under Nicole and sat up. The pain on her belly stinged. She slowly got off the bed trying not to open her wound. She walked to the door looking up to the sky shining brightly.

"Well you're an early bird."

Gina jerked back being startled by Jack.

"You were awake?"

"Someone has to be on look out for zombies." Jack smirked. Gina can only smile at him. "So how's your wound? Still hurt?"

"It's fine. Kind of stings though," Gina replied. "Lesson learned, do not sleep alone in a cabin when zombie bears are out there."

"It's my fault. I've known it would be dangerous to be alone and yet I let you sleep alone in a cabin. No less, I forgot to put out the fire too," Jack said.

"It's not your fault. I only under estimated the zombies. The last part about the fire, I admit that's your fault."

"That's mean." Jack smiled rising a brow.

"It's true though." Gina crossed her arm.

They both laughed until their eyes locked contact. Their eyes stared deeply into the other's. Jack can hear his heart beating faster than usual and Gina had a slight pink color in her cheeks. They broke eye contact when they heard yawning from behind. Looking back at the girls yawning, and Joe started to wake up as well.

"Morning sleepy heads." Gina smiled.

"Gina! You're injured. You should be in bed," Nicole said.

"I'm fine." Gina waved off. "This is nothing."

"I still think you should rest a bit," said Jillian.

"You guys worry too much, I'm really fine. And besides, we should get out of here before anymore zombie bears come exploring the campsite, right Jack," Gina suggested.

Jack smiled as he nodded.

"Alright then, let's go," said Joe.

They all packed up, walked back into the woods away from the campsite. They were walking in silence through the woods when Jillian broke that silence by asking a question.

"What do you think will make the worst zombie animal?"

Everyone took some time to think.

"Birds," Gina replied first.

"What? Why?" Jillian looked at Gina like she was crazy.

"Well," Gina stuck her finger in the air as she walked in front of everyone. "They can fly, they can swarm, and if they come swooping down with high speed there's no way to avoid them. We aren't going to slash or shoot our way out of a flock of zombie seagulls."

"Gina, zombies can't even run. How the hell are they going to fly? I'm pretty sure a zombie bird would just flop around on the ground helplessly," Nicole explained.

"I think the worst zombie would be a cheetah," said Jack.

"And why would you think that?" asked Jillian.

"Well everyone knows that a cheetah is fast and I don't think we can out run a zombie cheetah," Jack explained.

"Ok, Jack. Like any other zombie cat, I bet all it could do is run at a speed of a normal human and jump," said Nicole.
