Escape The Dead

Chapter 7- Contacting Each Other

The two walked in relative silence for a short distance. The quiet was unsettling. They were too far from civilization. The moaning that had become white noise to them was suddenly gone. Not a single bird chirped or bug stirred in the forest. It was truly dead silence.

"How you're doing so far?" Gina turned to Jillian.

They had been walking through the woods ever since what happened to their motorcycle.

"Doing great. I can definitely handle a walk through the woods, in the dark," Jillian replied sarcastically.

"That's good to heard. But we haven't slept yet, so I think we should hunker down for the night soon," said Gina.

"Excuse me? We're in the middle of the woods, in the dark. Unless we have an RV packed in my backpack, I'm not going to sleep." Jillian crossed her arms.

"You know the safest way to sleep is a hammock, right? High in the trees, so they can't get to you. It's either that or having one of us on look out." Gina continued walking.

"Couldn't a zombie panther climb?" Jillian asked, following Gina with her arms still crossed.

It took Gina a minute to even understand. "No, I don't think so. It didn't look particularly coordinated. I guess it could jump, which is way more than a zombie could do. A live one could get us easily, though."

"I think I need to get mentally prepared before I can sleep in a tree," Jillian suggested.

"So, you're sure that the zombie panther was attracted to light?" Gina asked making sure. Jillian nodded as she continued walking. Gina released an annoyed sigh. "That means light discipline. No fires at night."

"You're right. We can't risk it. At least it's spring. Not that cold," said Jillian.

"I still at least wished we had blankets, even if it's not that cold." Gina sighed.

"Wait! I have a sleeping bag in my backpack. I got it when we were at the gift shop." said Jillian

"Sweet! Do you have another one?" Gina asked with a smile.

"Uh... No. I only grabbed one, but we'll find you one before it gets cold." Jillian gave a sheepish smile. Both girls froze simultaneously. "We're gonna have to share, don't we?" Jillian asked.

"Na, I'm fine with my jacket. I mean we'd have to get soaked and plus, this is real life, not like some terrible romantic comedy, where it's going to start to-" Gina was interrupted by a lightning strike in the distance, soon followed by loud thundering. Gina and Jillian looked up into the sky as droplets of water hit their faces, the trees and the ground around them. "Rain." Gina finished.

"Great. Now it's raining. How nice," Jillian said getting soaked in the rain.

Jillian looked at Gina and noticed that her white shirt is turning transparent. "Um, Gina."

"What?"

"Your shirt. It's kind of... see through," Jillian try not to look.

Gina looked down to her soaked white shirt seeing her pink bra showing through. Gina looked up as her cheeks turned to a light pink color, she then noticed that Jillian's clothes was turning transparent as well.

Gina took off her pink jacket and hand it out to Jillian. "Your clothes are kind of see through as well."

Jillian also looked down to her clothes and her face turned to a rosy pink. "Thanks," she grabbed the jacket and wore it. "Aren't you gonna be cold?"
