Escape The Dead

Chapter 19- Getting Loaded

Nicole's eyes didn't stray from the moon that hung low in the early night sky. She took a deep breath of the cool night air. Another day in the world of the living dead had passed, and not without another dose of pain.

"Where in the hell could they be?" Jillian stomped, losing her patients.

"How long are we gonna look?" Zoie hid behind Joe, afraid to make contact with any zombie.

"Until we have found them," Joe replied.

They had been searching though the town for hours and the sun was starting to rise.

Back at the lab Dr. Adam brought them to a testing room. The small room had a huge window the shows a dark room on the other side. Under that window was some kind of machine. Dr. Adam asked Gina to enter the dark room on the other side of the window through the metal door to the right. She nodded and walked into that dark room. Her eyes started to glow red in the dark. She faced the window and everyone gasped on the other side. They saw how her eyes glowed bright red in the dark.

"What's happening?" Jack asked.

"Must be a side affect from the antidote," Dr. Adam replied.

Gina looked around the dark room seeing every inch and every corner. All she saw was the color red. She looked up if there were any red lights but there was none. It was kind of weird, but she was able to see things clearly, real clearly. Matt clicked a button and the lights in the room opened. Gina squinted a bit until her eyes got used to the light. Jack could see that Gina's eyes went back to their original chocolate color.

"Why was everything red just now?" Gina asked.

Dr. Adam spoke through the microphone. "It's a side affect from the antidote. Your eyes glow red in the dark."

"Really? Cool! Maybe that's way I could see things so clearly."

Gina heard a sound and turned around. A chair rose in the middle of the room.

"I like you to sit in that chair please," Dr.Adam said.

Gina walked over and sat in the chair. Then some kind of helmet came down on to her head.

"This will not hurt. I'm just gonna measure your brainwaves," said Dr.Adam.

The boys have been standing behind Dr.Adam as he studied Gina. When they were done Gina came out of the room.

"Gina seems to have great night vision. Her sense of hearing also became really sensitive, sort of like super hearing," Dr.Adam explained.

"Is that all the side affects from the antidote?" Asked Jack.

"Pretty much, yes." Dr. Adam rubbed his chin.

"I kinda like it. It'll be a great use for surviving," said Gina. "I don't need flashlights anymore since I can see in the dark now."

"I'm not sure if the affects are permanent or not, but I would put it to good use if I were you," Dr. Adam said.

"Yeah I will. I'm pretty sure that Jill will-" Gina paused for a minute. "Oh my god! I totally forgot about Jill and the others!" Gina panicked.

"They're probably worried right now, we have to go to them," said Jack.

"Oh, no you're not," Dr. Adam said.

"And why not?" Gina glared.

"Because, you just came back from the dead and Jack has a new unfamiliar arm. You guys aren't ready to head out. You guys need training."
