Escape The Dead

Chapter 8- Escaping the Cat Trio and a Cozy Home

"Gina, answer me! Hello?! Is everything ok?! Gina?!" Nicole yelled through the phone.

"Dude! Stop yelling! You'll attract the zombies," said Joe.

"Well, I'm sorry for wanting to know if our friends are still alive!" Nicole yelled.

Jack was flashing the flashlight in the distance when a dark figure ran pass and hearing growls.

"Um guys..." Jack trying to talk to them, but Joe and Nicole just kept on arguing.

"Guys!" He yelled getting their attention.

"What!?" The twins yelled in unison.

"I think there's something out there," said Jack looking around.

"Well yeah. Duh, there are zombies out there," Nicole replied.

"Yeah, I know that, but-" Jack stood there with his mouth wide open, frozen in place.

"But what?" Nicole asked.

"Nicole, don't make a sudden movement," Joe slowly said flashing the light in her face.

"Why?" Nicole was confused.

Jack also flash the light in her direction. Nicole saw their expression. Their face was pale white as if they've seen a ghost. Then a deep low growl was heard from behind.

"There's something behind me isn't there?"

They both nodded as Jack kept flashing the light on it. Nicole turned her head vaguely seeing a huge black molded fur cat as it shown it's sharp fangs and glowing green eyes. It stretch down low as if it was about to pounce. Nicole screamed and ducked down as it missed her and pounced onto Jack instead. Jack used the stick to block it's fangs from sinking into him. The cat struggled to get to Jack and he struggled to get away. Joe took out his gun and shot several bullets at it until it fell down to the ground. Jack got up and grabbed the flashlight as he shined on it.

"What is that?!" Nicole shouted.

"It looks like a panther," Joe said walking closer to it as he shine his flashlight at it as well.

Jack examined the panther seeing its ribs. He poked the panther on it's side with the wooden stick and the sharp end sank in smoothly. He pulled it back out as chunks of flesh was stuck on it.

"Gross! I think it's a zombie," said Jack trying not to throw up as he kept the light on it.

"A zombie panther? Well that's new," said Nicole. "How are we going take care of a zombie panther, I have never heard of any zombie animals before?"

The zombie panther shifted. They all took a step back as the zombie panther stumbled back on its four legs.

"Uh... I don't think it's alone," Jack said in a terrified voice.

Two more zombie panthers walked into the light, each on one side of the first zombie panther. All three of the zombie panther growled, showing their blooded fangs.

Nicole lift Gina's phone to her ear. "Hello? Gina? If you are still listening, I just want you to know that, we might not live through this night." Nicole end the call, placed it in her pocket and yelled, "RUN!!"

The three of them dashed away as the three zombie panthers chased after them. The rain made it harder to run. Joe looked back to see the zombies panthers high on their trail growling.
