JESSICA
The curtains glowed softly as the sunlight passed through them to fall on Daniel's face. I laughed as he snored lightly but not too loud to wake him up. He looked vulnerable in sleep, making me almost imagine which ways would be easier to kill him.
I tried to get up but something was hooked around my waist. I removed the comforter and found out it's his arm. My eyes were wide as I stared at the dilated blood vessels on his hand, the sight made my stomach stir.
"Daniel," I said softly.
His bushy eyebrows narrowed in irritation.
"Daniel," I said once again but he didn't wake up. He only groaned and rolled to the side, unwrapping his hand from my waist.
I took this chance to pick up my Nike's and tiptoed my way out and luckily, I bumped into no one.
Before showering,I did what was expected of me and that was to make sure the mansion looked spotless. It was a struggle since my arm could no longer handle the pressure and I didn't think I'd ever get used to these bloodstains even if I scrubbed them off for centuries. Each one reminded me of the innocent humans who had died just so the Adobes could feed. I was just sitting here, doing nothing. How long would it take for these bloodsucking demons to trust me? It didn't seem like any time soon and the longer I waited, more lives were lost, I was failing my fellow humans. They were dying like meaningless flies and I couldn't do anything except wait to earn the Adobes trust. I needed them to have no suspicions when I killed Victor. It was a very slow process but I knew it would be worth it in the end. Patience was a virtue.
"Well,look who's wearing a dress!"
Christy smiled as I sat on the kitchen high chair.
"Please, don't start,"I laughed.
"Green looks good on you,how did you sleep?"
"Good,you?"
"Like a baby" she smiled like an idiot.
"oh please share."
She looked around before whispering,"I just got back from Zach's!"
"Oh my gooosh, are you serious?"I exclaimed, trying hard not to burst into a laughter.
"Yes. Last night was actually my first with him. It was so amazing and got me wishing I hadn't been with anyone else before him. He's different,Mer,he made me feel so special."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it but Christy, do you really love him or the-you know?,"I narrowed my eyes at her.
She laughed before replying,"it's not only about that. We've been together for almost three years now. I don't know how else to explain the way he makes me feel. Just one touch from him is enough to bring me to my knees, Mer. His voice ties my stomach in knots. I feel like I would do anything for him and I cannot imagine life without him. I don't know,I've never felt something like this before but it must be love."
"Sounds like you're really in love with him."
"I want to brag about him to the whole world, you know and it makes me so fucking mad that my uncle and Daniel wouldn't want me dating him. Will our love always be like this? I'm tired of hiding."
"You can't keep hurting yourself because you're afraid your family won't approve of your relationship. It's not your problem if they don't like him."
"It's not that easy,Mer. My family's dangerous and this is the only way I can protect him. I don't enjoy it but I have to keep doing it," she sighed.
