JESSICA
I was sweating and burning. The summer, despite its unkind temperatures was not the cause of the moisture from my neck to just above my waist. It felt as if there was a huge fire in this room. I needed to leave. I needed a cold bath but I couldn't. Something was tangled around my legs, tightly so. It had no intention of letting go and slowly, I could feel the air being sucked out of me.
"I must say,I'm amazed you've made it this far." Victor chuckled.
"Oh,don't worry,you're not dead yet,"
I heard him say but I couldn't see him.
"I would've gone for the neck but this is the new norm. As you can see,I'm no longer young but in order to feed,I had to adapt."he said and that's when I realized he's under my blanket. I didn't have the energy to lift it but I could feel him slowly but painfully tear my skin of with his sharp, dirty fangs. I gasped and gasped while he sucked.
"Jason,"I could barely speak but I knew he could hear me. I shuddered to think why he looked like a powerful warrior. There was much masculinity, wildness and ferocity in his voice as he roared. I had never taken much interest in werewolves but I couldn't help but think this was what a breeding male looked like.
He walked around the room in grace. He did nothing to help me. He didn't even look at me.
Victor finally got out of my blanket.
Before leaving the room,he bowed to Jason. The vampire Lord bowed to my brother!that's the last thing I saw during my final breath.
"Jessica,"Daniel's voice summoned me out of my nightmare.
I snapped my eyes open, found him looking down at me with what "concerned" eyes?
"Daniel?"I searched those eyes, they were no longer gloomy but I couldn't be sure whether it really was him, what the hell was going on?
I slipped out of his arms.
"I don't know what game you're playing with me Victor but let me tell you,I don't play by the rules," I said, staring him straight in the eye.
"What?" Daniel asked.
"Let's just get this done, already,"I said, getting tired of his stupid tricks.
"Jessica,it's me,Daniel,"
"No no no,you cannot fool me Victor. Just stop already,I'm tired of having to face your bloody face everyday and not do what I long to do to you. You do not decide our destiny, you have no control over us,you are not God and if you ever thought you were,it ends toda-"
I felt him wrap his hand around my wrist.
"Don't touch me!"I ordered as I ran to pick up a large piece of wood,as if that would protect me.
"What is wrong with you?it's just me!he said, taking a step toward me.
"If you come any closer,I swear I'll kill you"i threatened.
"Jessica, what do I have to do to show you it's really me?"
He couldn't prove it. I had to ask him something only Victor knew.
"What's my mother's name?""Naomi." The fuck.
"I knew it!I knew it was you!"I aimed the wood at him but the bastard ducked it.
He looked at me as if a frisson of surprise shot through him.
"Only her killer knew her,Daniel knows nothing about my parents, only that you murdered them,"I said bitterly.
"I found out when I was doing some digging on you." Okay, that did sound like Daniel.
"Okay, okay. Can I tell you anything that only Daniel knows?"He said calmly with his hands up as if he was surrendering. A person watching from a distance would see me as some dangerous psychopath.
I arched my eyebrow. Of course he'd know everything Daniel knew,he'd been inside him all along.
"You the only one who doesn't believe he's a monster. You know he doesn't have a human heart but you still put all your faith in it."he said and I felt relief shoot over my insides.
I loosened my grip the wood I'd picked up after wasting the other.
"It's you,"I breathed.
