"You need to be in the studio and I need to stay here, I can't go with you, Tay," Grace sighed as Taylor clung to her at the bottom of the stairs.
"You can come with me, you just aren't," Taylor grumbled as she hugged Grace tighter.
Grace shook her head softly, "You know that if I go to New York with you today you aren't going to get anything done and I'm going to sit there grumpy in the apartment waiting for you to come home. I'm going to go see my friends tonight and you'll be back in two days."
"What if you get sick?" Taylor replied as she released the embrace just enough to meet Grace's eyes.
The brunette pushed her forehead against Taylor's, "I haven't had morning sickness in a month. If I get a cold, you will be back in two days and I will still be fine. Have a good flight, go work on your mystery album."
"But what if you get a craving in the middle of the night again?"
"Then I'll ask Parker if he wouldn't mind going out to get something or I'll come downstairs and make something myself. I'm fine, the baby is fine, Parker will be here."
"What if you-"
"I can take care of that too, I'm going to be okay, Taylor. I love you, give me a kiss and go to the airport before I get grumpy."
"You don't even know what I was going to say."
"Yes I do, I know your face and your tones," Grace chuckled before she connected their lips.
"I love you, text, call, FaceTime, SnapChat, email, I don't care, keep in touch and let me know if you need anything. I wanna know what you get on your essay."
"Okay," Grace replied with one more kiss, Taylor then bending down and kissing her still not showing bump.
"Be good, I love you," Taylor said to the baby.
"Maybe I'll be showing by the time you get back," Grace suggested while Taylor gave her puppy dog eyes, pleading for her to come with just the look of her face.
"That would be cool, you are sixteen weeks. I'm amazed you still look like a twig."
"Yeah, yeah. Text me when you land."
"Text me when you get home from Cassandra and Charlie's."
"Call me before bed."
"Time difference, you call me."
"Right-" Grace smiled, "I love you."
Taylor hugged her one more time, "I love you."
Taylor was off to New York for a couple days to get in some studio time, a last minute, quick trip so that she could be back in time for the appointment for the baby. She had an idea for a song that she couldn't get out of her head and just had to work on it.
Grace had decided to stay in London, travelling was exhausting and there was no reason for her to go. She made plans to go see her friends' new apartment that night and would spend the next day on her schoolwork.
They hated being apart but it was a short time, they had managed being apart longer and they could do it again.
This time, when Taylor couldn't fall asleep that night, there was no note on her graham crackers or sweater that smelled like Grace in their closet. They hadn't been there in forever and the only thing that brought her some comfort was Grace's name carved into the bed.
She laid there awake thinking about all of the memories they had shared in that room, first kisses, breakfast in bed, movie marathons.
It didn't feel like home anymore.
