Chapter 22

My lips parted as I try to process what she just said. I was unable to talk and just stared at my luggage as number of questions popped into my mind.

"I'll be there," I whispered before ending the call.

I was left dumbfounded while still staring at the luggage. Apollo and Arus knocked on my door and it swung open before I could even move. Nakahawak pa rin si Apollo sa cellphone niya nang dinaluhan nila ako.

"Bro, si Dream," Apollo whispered. I slowly nodded and thought about what I should do. We're already leaving in a week, but this happened.

Arus repeatedly tapped my back with his worried eyes. "May isang linggo ka pa naman. Puntahan mo muna."

"Vehicular accident, unconcious pa si Dream. I'll book our flight tomorrow morning," Apollo suggested. Tumawag sa kanya si Mel kaya nila nalaman, Rain wasn't able to give me more details since she started crying.

"I'll ready my things," I told them. Marahan naman silang tumango at tinapik ang balikat ko bago tuluyang lumabas sa kwarto. Kinuha ko ang walang lamang duffel bag at nilagay doon ang mga natitira kong damit. Nang nalagay ko na lahat ay muli kong inabot ang cellphone at tumawag.

[Brave! How are you, son? Did you pack your things?] Dad's jolly voice greeted me. I held my forehead and remained silent while listening to his voice. Nang napansin niyang hindi ako umiimik ay tumigil siya sa pagsasalita. [Is there anything wrong, son?]

I sighed and stared at the floor. [Dad.. Dream got into an accident.]

Sandaling tumahimik ang kabilang linya kaya akma akong titingin sa cellphone kung naputol ba ang tawag ngunit bigla siyang nagsalita. [Are you alright?]

[I'm not, Dad.. I badly want to go to her now and check her situation. Can... I borrow the family chopper?] I asked, desperate to hear his approvement.

[Of course, that's not a problem. I'll contact the personnel in-charge. Stay brave, my Brave Rigel.]

[Thanks, Dad.]

[You're always welcome.] he said before ending the call.

Kinuha ko ang duffel bag at lumabas ng kwarto. Naabutan ko ang dalawa na nakatayo sa sink, Arus was gurgling some water while Apollo was shaving his chin. Napatigil sila sa ginagawa at tumingin sa'kin. Nagtatakang tingin at ipinataw nila sa'kin nang nakita ang bitbit kong bag.

I gave them a small smile. "We're leaving now."

Mas lalong kumunot ang noo nila at ngayo'y bahagya nang naguguluhan sa sinasabi ko.

"Bukas pa flight natin. Magpapa-book pa ako mamaya," giit ni Apollo habang pinagpapatuloy ang pagsh-shave.

"We'll use our chopper. Bilisan nyo na dyan," giit ko sa kanila bago naglakad papunta sa sala. Narinig ko ang mura nila at ang pagmamadali habang naguunahan na makagamit sa faucet.

Hindi nagtagal ay hindi ko na narinig ang pag agos ng tubig sa sink at napalitan ito ng nagmamadaling yapak papunta sa kanya-kanyang kwarto. Apollo was still wiping his mouth with towel while a backpack was resting on his shoulder. Lumabas na rin si Arus habang bitbit ang duffel bag. Tumayo ako at kinuha ang bag sa sahig, hinagis ko kay Arus ang susi ng sasakyan bago kami tuluyang lumabas ng unit.

We drove our way to the private airport. Sinalubong kami ng mga personnel at nagsabing hinanda na nila ang lahat. I nodded and thanked them while walking straight to the chopper.

"I'll pilot the chopper," ani ni Apollo. I nodded at him and went inside. Nasa likod lang kami ni Arus.

Apollo adjusted and started talking to the control towers. The chopper's rotors started to whirl fast as the chopping noise started to fill the area. The chopper floated until we were already above the tall buildings of Manila. My hands got cold and I was breathing heavily while thinking about Dream's condition. Nakadungaw ako sa bintana habang tinitingnan ang mga ilaw ng mga lugar na nadadaanan namin, Arus was just quiet while sitting beside me. I got frustrated and closed my eyes as I rested my head on the back of the seat. Napasapo ako sa noo habang humihinga ng malalim. I was fucking frustrated if she's okay.
