Under Water

It's like
We're under water.
You see my lips moving,
But don't hear a word I say.
Listen, listen.
But you only see bubbles.
Waves of your desire crash upon my listless shore,
yet
I am drowning and your current pulls me under even stronger than before.
I am a crab enmeshed in the sand to escape the
Roar of
the water.
The sea beckons and tells a
Sweet lie of lust, disguised as "loving".
I'm tired of the forced ferocity the ocean has to offer.
It is violent.
It can never love.
It strangles my voice as I gasp for air and respite.
All I ever wanted was the tranquil tide pools.
The warmness of the shallow water.
The worn rocks.
The tiny creatures I feel run along my hands, and
I do not mind.
The ocean takes.
The waves would rather silence me.
