Precious...

Yunhee jolted awake, her fingers clutching the sheets as she reared away from the man whispering in her ear.

Her terror-stricken gaze shot around the darkened room, a bubble of panic bursting in her chest when she recognised the high ceilings and elegant floors. The bedroom she lay in was not familiar, but Taehyung's mansion was enormous.

This could have been any number of chambers within his vast estate.

'Miss Hahm?' a masculine voice called from the shadows.

'No!' Yunhee pressed herself against the headboard of the four-poster bed. Hugging her knees to her chest, she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to focus on not hyperventilating as footsteps approached. 'Please, don't.'

This was not happening. She couldn't be back in the hands of Taehyung and imprisoned at his estate. She'd fallen through the vortex.

She was home, and this was nothing more than a horrible nightmare.

'Hey, it's okay,' the man assured, his voice much softer as he stepped across the room.

The bed shifted under the weight of a heavy body, a long hand reaching out in her direction before quickly withdrawing.

'No one's going to hurt you, Miss Hahm. You're safe here.'

Somewhere in the back of Yunhee's terrified mind, she recognised the soothing cadence of her captive's voice. It was gentler, nothing like the alto purr that haunted her dreams. This man sounded like someone she could rely on, a kind soul who she already missed dearly.

Like a child afraid of the monster lurking under the bed, Yunhee slowly opened her eyes and glanced at the man sitting next to her.

Oval irises the colour of syrup greeted her, the depth of his gaze filled with inquisitiveness and a measure of threat. His skin was pale and smooth, his coal black hair swept away from his high forehead, and he wore a crisp white shirt with satin blue pants that her wild friend would not be seen dead in.

He was not the man she had grown to love over the weeks, but they were one in the same, and his presence settled her.

'Jin?' Yunhee's voice cracked with raw emotion at the sight of his pleasant face.

'Yes,' he said while offering her a cautious smile, 'it's me.'

Yunhee allowed her trembling muscles to relax when she realised that she was not in Taeyhung's possession. Her head fell against the mahogany headboard with a whimper of relief, but she kept her gaze on him, noting the way he daren't flinch in fear of startling her.

'Would you like some tea?' Jin ventured sympathetically.

'Yes, please,' Yunhee stuttered.

The bed shifted and Jin walked to a demi lune table holding a teapot and china cups. She watched him roll up his sleeves before her gaze drifted to the trickle of sun bursting through the crack in the drapes.
