The curtain twitched, a pair of cunning eyes homing in on the man parked across the street.

The likeness was uncanny, but it was not Hoseok. No, his lackey was sitting a block away, waiting obediently in the DB5.

It came as no surprise to Taehyung to learn that his snivelling colleague had a doppelgänger. It was noteworthy and rather amusing, however, to discover he'd been placed under surveillance by that very man.

'How bold,' Taehyung leered while dropping the curtain. 'What tales have you been spinning about me, precious?'

Yunhee pouring her heart out to her chums was of little concern. It was anticipated, but Taehyung suspected that she had painted him in a ghastly light, and that would simply not do. He cared not for her friend's dampened opinion of him.

Only hers.

Adjusting his leather gloves, Taehyung walked across the polished wooden floorboards, his gaze sweeping the unimaginative space.

He was observant enough to note the subtle differences since his last visit. Personal effects had been moved, others taken; the large pink sweater that was folded neatly on the back of the sofa was now absent.

But he didn't have to see Yunhee entering the apartment to know that she'd been here. Taehyung could sense the woman's presence. He could hear the aftermath of her alluring whispers, forever haunting his mind and enlightening his soul.

There was something extraordinary at work in both universes, and Taehyung was more than ready to embrace it if it brought Yunhee to him.

Preternatural adventures aside, there were important business matters that needed immediate attention. Taehyung was not a man to waste time, and after only two days of making himself at home in a diverse universe, he was eager to implement the steps to claim the House of Cards.

His initial visit to Daechi yesterday was to get a feel for what Yunhee and Tae were up to, but now he'd returned because he required the legal documents of the gentleman who went by the same name.

Shifting around the living room, Taehyung rummaged through drawers and compartments, careful not to leave evidence of a break-in as he hunted for specific paperwork. When he uncovered nothing, he slithered into the master bedroom, his gaze roaming over the solid wood furniture decorating the vicinity.

His instincts told him to check the wardrobe, but Taehyung found himself, once again, by the nightstand with the saccharine picture of Yunhee and her boyfriend in his hand.

Could he be this man? Did he want to be this man?

It was not him. It could never be him, but he was willing to put on a pretence for a time if it ultimately led him to his rightful place. There was no doubt in his mind now that he would have to make changes to his appearance, but the photo was not enough.
