y/n's pov

"We've got some news." she says. Except, there's no 'we', at least from where I'm seeing. "Where's Ethan?" I ask her. Her eyes shift from me to the ground. I let her inside, helping her with her luggage. I turn on the lights, leading her into the living room. We take a seat on the couch as the air conditioning goes on. She goes on to tell me about the honeymoon and the places they went. Honestly, it sounded like they had a great time, so I'm not exactly sure why something sounds wrong. She continues the story, ending it with an unexpected twist.

"He wants to enlist in the army." she says, waiting for my reaction. Except this time, I don't know how to react. "So where is he then?" I don't know much about the whole army enlisting process, but I'm pretty sure you can't just join right away.

"Well, on our way back from Greece, we stopped over in Virginia at one of their training camps...So that's where he is now." she says, emotionless. How could he do that to us? To Bailey...I don't get his logic sometimes.

"Without even saying goodbye?" I look at her as I wait for an answer. There's no way he's just going to leave us all like this. Without telling anyone...It's practically a suicide mission.

"I don't know Y/n...I'm sure he'll come back." she says, but I don't believe her. How could she just let him go like that? They just got married and just came back from their honeymoon...I thought at least one of the two had a little common sense.

"So that's it? He's just gonna leave us like that?" I feel my body go warm, my voice starts to rise. He didn't even ask what we'd think about it...How we'd feel if he left...Now he's just leaving us behind.

"He'll be back soon, don't worry." she tells me, but I still refuse to believe her. Out of all the things Ethan's put our whole family through, this has got to be the worst. I excuse myself, going to my room. I go on my phone as I try to relax in bed, trying to forget about what just happened. I decide to do the first thing that comes to mind - call Dani.

I press his contact name to hear the phone ring. I wait a few rings after until he eventually picks up. We both turn on our cameras, going into facetime. I see Christian in the background with Crawford. I really hope he's not busy at the moment, but I guess it's fine if he is.

"Hey what's up!" he says. He sounds so happy right now, I'd hate to bring down the mood.

"Hey, are you busy?" I ask, watching him as he looks away from the camera. He's probably hanging out with friends right now. Talk about my bad timing.

"Just hanging with the boys, why what's up?" I think about telling him what's going on in my mind, but I don't want to intrude. I'm probably annoying him right now for all I know...

"Oh nothing, just wanted to catch up. It looks like you're having fun, I'll call you later." I must say, my attempts of trying to run away from my problems are horrible. I can't even lie, let alone hide my feelings.

"No, hold on..." he says. I watch him get up as he walks to a different location. From the looks of it, it looks like his room. "Okay talk to me."

"Dani it's fine, really."

"No it's not fine 'cause usually when you say it's fine, it means the total opposite; and you never say 'catch up' 'cause you don't like how it sounds for some reason, and when something's on your mind you do that thing with your voice when you hesitate in the beginning of each sentence 'cause you feel like you're intruding." he says. I'm speechless. He really knows me...

"I don't do that..." I say, looking away from the camera.

"Yes you do!" He laughs. God, his voice. I forgot how much I missed it. "But really, what's wrong?"
