Hunted (4)
Kylie's POV
After a quick fix up from Sam with Ava staring wide eyed behind us, we made it to the building across the street, heading straight for the rooftop.
"Wait, I don't understand. Shouldn't we be talking to the cops?" Ava asked.
I let out a sigh, holding my side as I moved around. "Trust me, that wouldn't do us much good."
Sam moved to the other side of the roof, bending down to pick up something small before standing up straight and calling me over.
I glanced in Sam's hand where I small bullet laid. "That's a .223 caliber." I let out.
"Subsonic rounds too." Sam glanced at me.
I shook my head. "The guy must have put a suppressor on the rifle."
"Who are you people?" Ava raised a brow behind us.
I turned, my mouth opening and closing but no words coming out.
"Oh, I just, uh . . . We just watch a lot of TJ Hooker."
I rolled my eyes at his explanation, which wasn't a total lie.
Sam surprised me when he pulled out his phone.
"Who are you calling?" Ava asked for me.
"My brother." Sam nodded before meeting my eyes. "I think we definitely need help."
I suppressed a squeal, excitement filling my body at the thought of Sam calling his brother for help. It was like getting a band back together.
"Hello?" I heard after a couple of rings, Sam putting the phone on speaker.
"Dean!"
"Sam, I've been looking for you and Kylie." Dean admitted.
"Yeah. Look, I'm in Indiana, uh Lafayette." Sam explained.
"I know."
"You do?" Sam asked, making even me raise a brow
"Yeah, I talked to Ellen. Just got here myself. It's a real funky town. You ditched me, Sammy."
I felt my body tighten at his words, not so much because I left him, but because he said our code word.
I squeezed Sammy's forearm.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. Look, right now there's someone after us." Sam continued to speak in a calm tone.
"What? Who?" Dean asked frantically.
"I don't know, that's what we need to find out. Where are you?"
"I'm staying at, uh, 5637 Monroe Street. Why don't you meet me here?"
For someone that was being held at gunpoint, Dean sounded very calm.
"Yeah. Sure." Sam said before hanging up the phone.
"Why did you just hang up on him?" I let out with frustration.
"What is it?" Ava asked with worry.
"My brother's in trouble." Sam sighed sadly.
"What?" She asked confused.
"He gave me a codeword. Someone's got a gun on him." He explained.
"Codeword?" Ava pressed.
"Yeah. Funkytown."I rolled my eyes. "Well, he thought of it. It's kind of a . . . long story. I . . ." I held back a smile before shaking my head. "Come on."
