Bloodlust (4)

Kylie's POV

Sam walked a head of me with a slight limp, he looked tired and worn like he had been fighting and hadn't had time to sleep. "Come on, we're almost there." He promised.

I felt like I couldn't move, my normal breathing turning into a wheeze, my lungs were on fire.

Sam stopped and looked at me. "Can't you hear him? Dean's looking for you."

"Kylie! Sam!" I heard Dean's voice in the distance.

A man approached behind Sam, a knife in his hand. His eyes flashed yellow as a sickening grin appeared on his face.

I tried to yell for Sam, to tell him to turn around, but I couldn't speak.

I tried and I tried to get the words out of my mouth.

Sam turn around! Sam turn around!

TURN AROUND!

"Kylie! Wake up!"

I jumped with a start, my body jerking in the chair that I was in.

Wait why was I tied to a chair?

"Sammy?" I asked confused as I looked next to me to find him in the exact same predicament as me.

Sam nodded. "You okay?"

I closed my eyes, feeling a headache forming from being punched in the face. "Yeah, I'm good. You?"

"I think so." He nodded, as he struggled against his ties.

As Sam tried to break free, I was able to focus my eyes on none other than Eli who was watching me.

"Wow Eli, I thought we had something special." I said, looking at the vampire I had flirted with earlier that day.

Note to self, do not tell Dean about this.

Eli barred his teeth at me before advancing.

"Wait! Step back Eli!"

Eli forces himself back, his fangs retracting.

A tall pale woman stepped forward, looking down at me and Sam. "My name's Lenore. I'm not going to hurt you. We just need to talk."

"Talk?" I smiled. "Yeah, okay, but I might have a tough time paying attention to much besides Eli's teeth." I scoffed.

"He won't hurt you either. You have my word."

"Your word?" Sam laughed humorlessly. "Oh yeah, great, thanks. Listen lady, no offense but you're not the first vampire we've met."

"We're not like the others." She said calmly. "We don't kill humans, and we don't drink their blood. We haven't in a long time."

"What is this?" I asked. "Some kind of joke?"

"Notice you two are still alive." She gave a small smile before dropping it.

"Okay, uh, correct me if I'm wrong here, but shouldn't you be starving to death?" Sam questioned while I continued to take in Lenore's appearance.

"We've found other ways. Cattle blood."

"You're tell me you're responsible for all the-"

"It's not ideal, in fact it's disgusting." She interrupted him. "But it allows us to get by."

"Okay." I nodded before tilting my head. "Why?"

"Survival." She said simply. "No deaths, no missing locals, no reason for people like you to come looking for people like us. We blend in. Our kind is practically extinct. Turns out we weren't quite as high up the food chain as we imagined."
