Tall Tales (3)

Kylie's POV

I stared down at the large, perfectly round scorch mark in the ground in the exact same place Curtis said he was taken.

My mouth was dropped open, and I was totally dumbfounded by the situation.

"I'm tell you. This was made by some kind of jet engine." Sam shook his head in as much disbelief as me.

"You mean some saucer-shaped jet engine?" Dean scoffed as I scratched my head in thought.

Aliens are real?

"What else could it be?" Sam shook his head.

"What the hell?" Dean let out.

"I don't know." Sam shook his head.

"Seriously, dude - What the hell?" Dean asked again.

"I don't know." Sam let out with frustration.

I felt the boy's eyes on me as I continued to stand there like a blow up doll. My mouth dropped open, my body stiff.

"You okay, sweetheart?" Dean asked, nudging me so I remembered to actually blink.

"Aliens are real?" I asked, looking at Dean who only shook his head. "They slow dance with frat boys before probing them?"

"It appears so." Dean grinned with amusement.

"I mean," I chuckled sarcastically, "first the haunting. Now this?" I shook my head. "The timing alone - There's got to be some kind of connection."

I think I was going into shock.

"You mean between the angry spirit and the sexed-up E.T.?" Dean questioned. "What could the connection possibly be."

I looked between the men before me, perching my elbows on my knees. "But what could we do? So we just kept on digging."

We found another college student, one who was in the same house as Curtis, hopefully we could find the connection between him and the professor.

"So, you and this guy, Curtis - You were in the same house?" Sam asked the college student while I rocked on the heels of my boots.

"Yeah." The student nodded.

"You heard what happened to him, right?" Dean asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Yeah," The boy chuckled, "he says it was aliens, but, you know, whatever." He shrugged.

"Look, man I-I know this all has to be so hard." Sam let out, my eyebrow raising at his exaggerated concern.

"Um, not so much." The student shook his head, looking at Sam strangely.

"But I want you to know . . ." Sam sucked in a breath holding back his emotions, "I'm here for you. You brave little soldier." He grabbed the boys shoulder, squeezing it with comfort. "I acknowledge your pain. Come here." He brought the student in a tight embrace, one that made even me blush. "You're too precious for this world."

"I never said that!" Sam exclaimed, as I stifled a laugh.

"You're always saying pansy stuff like that." Dean shrugged.

"Well, um . . . Yeah, uh, thanks." The student spoke awkwardly as Sam released him from the tight embrace. "Thanks for the hug, but, uh, I'm okay." He looked at Sam who was giving him puppy dog eyes. "Really. To tell you the truth, whatever happened to Curtis, he had it coming."
