Playthings (5)

Kylie's POV

The realization that Tyler was gone sent a chill down my spine. I couldn't imagine what Susan was going through at this moment.

How could I be so stupid?

We raced up the stairs yelling Tyler's name but finding it completely empty. Our voices echoing off the walls.

I felt my heart beat insanely fast and for a moment I thought I was going to fall over.

"She's not here!" Susan cried as she ran through the room in a panic.

"Susan tell us what you know about Maggie." Sam took control while I paced with my fingers in my hair, pulling anxiously.

"Um, not much, um ... Tyler's been talking about her since mom got sick." She tried her best to think.

"Okay did you ever know anyone by that name?" Sam asked while Dean watched as I ran a hole in the floor.

"Uh . . . No." Susan shook her head.

I stopped in my tracks and looked at the panicked mother. "Susan, I need you to think. Anyone that could have lived here? Or passed away?" I questioned despite the pounding in my chest.

"Oh my God." Susan swallowed. "My mom. She had a sister named Margaret. She barely spoke about her."

"Did Margaret happen to die here when she was a kid?"

I held my breath as I waited for her answer.

Her dark eyes widened as I watched her face pale. "She drowned in the pool."

"Come on." Dean called as we all headed for the pool. I was surprised at how well I kept up with them despite my heavy breathing. It was like I was out of shape and hadn't run in a decade, but I pushed through.

We ran through the gardens and out to the pool house where Dean quickly found the door to be locked, the knob not moving.

"Tyler!" Susan cried as I pulled her aside to let Dean and Sam pound on the glass, hoping to break it.

"Tyler!" Susan cried over and over until finally the young girl looked through the glass, a horrified look on her face.

"Mommy!" She cried as she stood on the ledge of the balcony that overlooked the pool. She held on tightly to the rail, but not tight enough.

She let out a scream as she slipped off the side falling into the pool.

"Is there another entrance?" I asked Susan who stood there mortified.

"Around back." She let out shakily.

"Let's go." Dean moved away from the door, grabbing a hold of Susan. "Keeping working."

The two ran away from the pool, heading for the back entrance while Sam and I continued out assault on the door, praying it would bust open.

After many quick hits with my elbow, I pulled back looking for something to bust the glass, my eyes landing on a large potted plant.

I quickly pulled the plant out, listening to the blows Sam took to his casted arm, before grabbing the heavy pot. "Move Sam!" I yelled.

Sam moved out of the way as I hit the glass over and over with the pot watching as the glass crackled with each blow it took until it finally crashed open.

Sam and I didn't hesitate running in and jumping over the rail into the freezing water. Our legs becoming tangled in the pool cover.

Sam reached Tyler first, her unconscious body sinking to the bottom of the pool floor. He brought her up to the surface of the water and carried her frail body to the cement floor.
