Damian

Naomi cooks her lunch as I sit at the counter. We don't speak as we each do our own thing. It remains this way until Tara walked into the room. She inspects the both of us in silence, hands on her hips as she does.

"Well who the hell died, " She asks. "Because y'all are really quiet."

Naomi shoots me a glance before speaking, "Nothing's wrong, just making lunch."

Tara gives us one more look before leaving the room, leaving Naomi and me back in our silence.

"So are we talking or are we just going to sit here in silence, " I ask, sliding my phone across the counter.

Naomi sighs as she takes her bread out of the toaster to form her sandwich, "I feel like when we talk about it, I'll be really moving to Georgia."

It has been two months since graduation and now it's five hours until Naomi leaves for Georgia.

"Okay? We've talked about it before, so what's the difference?"

"The difference is that I'm actually moving, Damian! Four hours and thirty-one minutes. That's how far I'll be away from you."

I stand and travel to wrap my arms around her, "We're going to be fine. You know that I know that, really everyone knows that."

"I know, I'm still sad about it though." She pauses. "I made you a sandwich too if you want one."

"Of course I want a sandwich if you're making it."

She smiles as she makes the sandwiches before placing them at the counter for us. We ate in silence for the most part but we had some casual conversations as if we were catching up on time we were about to miss. We then watched some of her favorite movies, like the princess and the frog, and step up.

"Moose should have more screen time, he dances the best."

"I know right! He was robbed the whole time."

Tara comes into the room with her keys jingling around her finger, "I hate to say it, but it's time to go Naomi."

"Just a little while longer," Naomi says as she turns around.

Tara shakes her head, "I'm afraid that we can't risk it. We're already running a little bit late."

Naomi runs her hands over her head, "Okay, let me go get my stuff."

"I'll come to help you," I offer as we begin to walk up the stairs.

Naomi grabs one suitcase and places it on her bed before packing a select few photos. She pauses for a moment before zipping you the suitcase and rolling it out of the room. I grab her two remaining bags and take them outside to put in the trunk. I get in the back seat while Tara and Naomi take the front.

Tara begins to drive to the airport and the only sound coming from inside the car was the radio.
When we arrived, I spotted Xavier standing outside the front gate.

I nudge Naomi, "Hey, look who came."

Naomi looked for a minute with squinting eyes before seeing Xavier, "X!"
